Well IEAAF as at the Time of Taliban the airforce was called .carried no new markings..they had planned white flag ….but never materialized…due to lots of aircraft were from diffrent regimes. by the way they did do well 8 MiG-21MFs, 3 MiG-21Us, possible 3 Su-22M4s…Based at Kandhar …

Just ..Make a cockpit like a F-CK-1(360 )and put RD-93 and Fly by Wire…and Increase wing span by 33 Deg`s.. The Iran will have one of the most beautifull and agile horroficaly Good!1 Combat Fighter able to perform air defence and secondry attack role..she will have the same specs as F-16A/B Block 15 ( I think thats the yardstick )

I Just Can`t Help Smiling.. 🙂 Thank you Lord….!!!! well Now we know they are looking for 60 JAS-39C/D New Built with a Lease of 20 JAS-39C/D Batch 1 on Lease (Later to be Bought in Future).. if we go ahead we will have atleast a Squadron 20 JAS-39C/D Batch 1 within 6 Months in Pakistan..that will Change whole out look of inbalance in Sub-Continent….As one could see JAS-39C/D request is part of Much Large Package AWE & C and C4?
PAF Have also Bought Mirage 3/5 from Libya….Most of them are spares May be some More info on this issue>?

By all Means…the most Cost effective warplane in modern time was Mirage 3C/E/ROSE(Grifo M3)
We must include Airframe life capacity it was used to and is also combat proven…in my mind i haven`t found the most Cost effective plane in world other then that ..
be it antishipping/GA/strike/Interception ..and also..not made in USA…..

Arthur..Pardon me for saying this..one with your knowledge ..i can`t belive what you have written in whole thread..
I know thing usually go quite rude here ..Pakistani being Patriotic..but one should understand Pakistan was actively supporting Mujhahids in Afghanistan fully supported by the US..Indians here should look a bit deeper ..the thing which makes me proud is that with such amount of crap equippment other then Brang new equippment PAF did intercepted Afghan Soviet jets …and they did shot them down..

We must look at Afghan War is three phases ..

1980-83 Phase 1 ……to the contary this early phase was the most dangerous..PAF had nothing ..period F-6s were worthless in CAPs and we had no radar coverage at all..but by chance sometimes F-6s did got engaged and these engagements happend on at pilot level decission..no specific orders…

1983-86 Phase two this is the phase where after three years Pakistani Govt came to conclusion that Pakistan is not going to be attacked, this where massive operation was started to arm Afghan Groups to fight a war fully supported by US offcourse..

PAF in this period deployed its Mirage Assests is this phase Mirage 3EP/Mirage 5PA bore the brunt of CAPs but due to Radar net not being effective although much improved since phase 1 but still they engaged and intercepted again decission was taken by the Pilot in the Plane..not recommended by the controler..this is the period first sporadic attacks by Afghan/Soviets happened at Pakitia/khurrum Vally..there should be no doubt that Plane weren`t hitting Pakistan soil ..so that argument that no attacks happend on Refugee Camp/Training Camps is non sense……

1986-89 this is the Phase 3 PAF felt strong enough only reason that Soveits started to be hit heavily by Mujhahids..so the intensity of raids in Pakistan Airspace increasded..by the time PAFs Brand new f-16s were operational ..and started to do CAPs and with good radar net they started to engage and intrude, no decission was given at ground controler level..so pilots did enter aghan airspce ..they did started to hit in Pakistan Airspace as well as afghan Air Space .. last months of 1987/88/89 will show that PAF did do quite well ..against the odds she faced …..

Soveits in Afghanistan or US in veitnam…same thing..both had capability to run over ..but US suffered losses to Veitnam Airforce Mig-17s/Mig-21 be it 33 kills only but they did …Soveits Faced PAF they shot more then 40+ be it they were no Match..and soveiiits had nothing to show..

this what makes nme pround we did not have anything to even engage VVS/Afghan Airforce, but we did ..and gues what we shot down them..be it small we you look at the period 1980-89 but with such crapy equippment thats astounding!

TYhen again I its isn`t worthit ..now indians will come and say its is nothing ..and propagandistic post and ..they will go on..same with Pakistani chaps..here PAF didn`t kick ass of VVS…itys totaly rediculous..we were able to guard our airspace ..not like we should have but we did ..somethiong and came out with surprises..thats Important!

As jagan put it …lots of engagements were not published because they were scored on the wrong side of border..and F-16s were not the only scorer Mirage 3/5 scored aroung 7+ Kills as well as F-16s kill tally is around 33+ ..
Pak Fiza`ya was operating agressively in 1988-89 period frequently engaging Soviets in Afghan Air space ..on egood example is deployment of Tu-22jammers ..to support carpet bombing attacks..why would they deploy unless they were in danger of being engaged..by the way these damn tu-22 Jammers were so good that one could not anything on radar screen….but interstinly F-16s APG-66 were immune to jamming ..
On closer look at the air battles..on could find the lack of RWR..of F-16s …untill they were real close…..

By the way the undecleared kills include 9 An-26s
