Sorry about the above pic’s, am not clever enough to work how to put them on here big like:o

The score was for the guy on the long lead outside the aircraft not the Victor lads in general :diablo::diablo::diablo:

Unless someone else wishes to step up and do the honours?

Well from what we could see:rolleyes:

The Artouste seemed to fly into its bay in no time at all, must have been that keen Victor Sim chap on the winch. Anyway about an hour later we heard a strange sound that has not been heard for many a month (no not Sven opening his wallet :p) but that of an Artouste and Lindy shaking off the cobwebs and springing into life. All seemed well with just the odd minor glitch that you would expect on an aging lady. The engines were dry and then wet cranked and the hydraulics applied with not problems reported on that score and the alternators produced voltage as required, and I swear I saw Lindy smile again when she was roused from her slumbers, It was really good to see that the work that the lads had put in over the previous weeks in the cold and wet conditions bore such good fruit.

On the nimrod front, work continued to bring her back to the condition she was in when she arrived, we cannot thank the guys at the IPT at Kinloss enough for their support, and the beers are defiantly on us next time you are in town. Work was also completed in getting her ready for the runs next Sunday.
So all in all a good day for both the Victor and Nimrod crews.

    See you next Sunday

Oh and whilst I am here, I can confirm that the anti det runs for the Nimrod & Victor (if it is fixed) will be on

SUNDAY 13TH FEB not the 6th as originally advertised.

    See you there ๐Ÿ˜€

but it appears the Nimrod Houchin wasn’t up to the job because it kept tripping out. We have been assured by Nimrod Mate that this is down to a ‘fleshy interface error’ on the part of one of our team, and not the ‘Rod’s Houchin’s fault…

So next week’s update will either be a tale of joy or woe. Watch this space…

It will be a tale of woe if the flipping Houchin has been trashed by you uncouth lot ๐Ÿ˜Ž

You go away for just 5 minutes……………….

Blue2 thanks to you and the rest of the Victor types for providing safety cover and yes it was noticed that you all seemed to congregate to the rear of the jet :p
As for Kimberley (for that is her Gulf War name) everything went fine. We were expecting the odd problem after so much bad weather but she behaved impeccably and all 4 engines started first time and all ran up nicely, although we could not run the engines on the starboard side above about 60% as someone has parked a Herald behind Kim!
The kicking of the bomb doors is SOP as the micro switch is a bit temperamental and at the moment we have not got a spare but we are working on it;)
As promised here are the dates for the next anti det runs which, will be the same day as the old Trollope sat across from Kimberley; so for the entrance fee at Yam as well as an excellent museum you will get both the Nimrod & The Victor ground running and you will be quite close to these jets as they run.

    The dates are
    6th Feb
    6th March
    3rd April

So come on Blue2 and gang pull yer fingers out and get the Artouste fitted:diablo:

With Regards to the above dates, the 6th Feb now looks like it will be dry cranks only on the engines, as unfortunately the main fire engine (the Pathfinder) has suffered some serious damage in the recent frost and at the moment is U/S. ๐Ÿ™

We are hoping to us the backup date of the following Sunday however we are at this time at the mercy of waiting for spares for the pathfinder and the repairs to be carried out.

As soon as there is any update I will post it on here.

Is it possible that yourselves and the Nimrod guys could post on here when you are planning to run the engines. I came last year when you were doing anti det run on the Victor and would love to come up again when one of them is running.

    As requested above.
The plan is…….(if the fire cover can be confirmed) the Nimrod will be carrying out the next set of anti det runs next Sunday (9th Jan) We will also during the runs be carrying out rudder functionalโ€™s (post Rect’s) and moving flaps/bomb doors etc.

We should be doing this around lunch time once Trumpton have turned up in enough numbers and the Houchin has been refuelled!!(It ran out today  )

Don’t think the Victor will be running as its artouste starter was at least 500 yards from the jet today sat in a hangar keeping warm and talking to the very cold Lindy lads they still have some work to do on the Artouste bay before re fitment. No doubt Blue 2 will be on here later with tales of woe/success.

As Blue 2 so rightly says we cannot move the ‘big’ jets because the Victor at the moment has a stress panel removed, towing the aircraft without this panel could cause all sorts of grief and possibly irreparable damage to Lindy so itโ€™s a definite no go. We cannot go the other way with the Nimrod as there is a tree in the way as well as the Canberra, so for now the little puddle jumpers are going to have to man up and sit in the cold for a bit.

We were due to run the engines yesterday on the Nimrod however it appears that there was a “breakdown” in communication with someone, so we were not allowed to run:mad:

We will hopfully do it in January, i will advertise as soon as I know the date.

    Engineering update, 26th September

    ——————————————————————————–

With Blue_2 and Victor_Sim away it was a fairly quiet day, but quite a productive one.

After a team effort, involving six XL231 team members, a brace of ex-Victor ground crew (who were only up for a visit, teaches them right for owning up to knowing what they were doing ), a museum volunteer and almost the entire Pepper clan, we managed to get the brake chute that had foiled us last week untangled.

Ahh trust me Reverse Thrust is the way forward ๐Ÿ˜Ž
