Anyone got any update on this sad saga please?
I’m hoping to hear this airframe has been saved – either whole or cockpit, but NOT scrappped…..
Yes Tim…. had a “borrowed” fin on there with “05” tailcode.
The legs still had pressure in them as the “shiny” portions were as they should be, so we must be looking at some 1500psi in there if those legs haven’t collapsed yet. Bill T.
Main Oleo’s long since lost their pressure judging by this photo from 2012 showing the links folded flat (zero pressure)?

As the admin of both the Hawker Hunter Appreciation Society group mentioned above, as well as a Brawdy one (she’s ex-Brawdy) I have spread the word as much as possible on facebook in the hope that something can be done. God knows why the decision has been made to suddenly scrap this airframe – no hint of it coming up as available should anyone have wanted to make an offer previously?
Nice shots! Hope you enjoyed the day which was rather busier than we had thought, but great fun working back at Kemble again in such amazing weather with a great turn-out from visitors by road & air alike 🙂
Well this was my first time working the event under the guidance of Vaughan and Alec (Wulfie) along with a contingent from “The Events Team” as we’re collectively known from our previous experience at Kemble etc. It was actually brilliant, no in fact it was fantastic!!! Speaking on behalf of our little team who were all there for the first time, we thoroughly enjoyed it all, and pleased to see a good crowd attendance and plenty to see and do, especially on the Monday with the weather…
I have received a DVD dropped in my letterbox this morning from our roving photographer who follows us around events – Paul J Morton, and with his permission I can share them but so far I’ve only got them on facebook so far:
I’ve got some work to do uploading them elsewhere to share, so bear with me for those unable to see facebook albums 😮
From reading the details on the breakdown of the engine components it was pretty well distorted inside so I wouldn’t have thought it could have been rebuilt as such? Considering the amount of surplus engines that are long since gone before preservation kicked in, at least this company went to a lot of trouble to document what they were doing and authenticate it all with the finished articles… I can’t really get upset about that in all honesty.
At least you missed the school full of children and/or the over-dramatic screaming dive…. that’s why you were overlooked by the DM 😉
I can assure everyone that the Seaplane does indeed have the means to land on terra firma, and is staying overnight too, which is a bonus 🙂
Will it be at Leg*&$%……?
Well no-one else asked so I thought I may as well 😀
On a more serious note – genuine words now…. sorry to hear of your little prang Moggy, not a nice thing to happen to anyone but at least you are relatively ok which is the important thing. 😉
Quite a nice read through this thread to see all the forum humour and banter coming to the fore…. it’s what we’re all about after all, even if you are a moderator 😀
Hope you get back on here soon, before word spreads of buried RV-4’s in Bur……………… ooops 😉
Funnily enough, and example of one of these (G-BMOO) will be in attendance at an event I’ve just been posting about, and ground running it’s rather nice engine too!

Cache clearance was one of the first things I did Moggy… as I said I’m a pc man anyway so before posting I had exhausted all the user options available including trying on various pc’s dotted around the house – most of which are clear of any history of me logging into here. It’s only my personal pc that had any log in data saved – so I am at a loss to understand what happened?
In future I won’t bother advising of any issues with this forum – it IS just this site that has performed poorly at random intervals? If the webmaster & co believe it is not a problem their end, then I’ll just let the issue continue. Other forums in the past have been far more ‘on the ball’ but as very few even replied to this thread out of the huge membership then how can they actually tell?
Well 11 replies isn’t a majority…lol 😉 It has improved since my first post, and I have been logging in at different times of day & night to see if it’s a web traffic thing? I’m writing this reply when it is actually ‘normal’ and changing from one sub-forum to another without a problem – just as it should do?
Hmmm… interesting as I have Adblock on my Firefox so I don’t even see the adverts? Tried it in IE and Firefox on 2 pc’s at the same time – when the forum slows down it is apparent on BOTH browsers. Trouble is that it’s a sparodic problem, and believe me I’ve thought of all the usual things – and my broadband is ultra-quick thanks to a Virgin upgrade!!!!
