Hi Apogee,
Thanks for the heads up, hopefully the DVD of the show won’t be too long in post production, I’m guessing Ed Shipley will be editing it. I thought the shot of Lee pulling up at the start of his display up looked familiar.

More photos here.
Hi Skyraider
The photos were taken over four days, although to be honest Thursday was almost a right off weather wise. I still have loads of photos to go through. I shot around 5000 photos at GML, that’s without the visits to the USAF museum, the WW1 fly-in and various Wright Brothers attractions.
I had a grandstand ticket, which was very handy especially later in the day when my stamina was starting too fade. It was great value too, $85.00 for entry including the granstand for all four days!!

James,
As far as I know the original 78th Fighter Group P51D that Colonel John Landers flew as ‘Big Beautiful Doll’ was not preserved.
The example at the Gathering is owned by Mike Henningsen, here in the UK we have Rob Davies P51D G-HAEC, the IWM at Lambeth also have the former RCAF example that was on display at Duxford painted in BBD colors. There may be more!

Thanks everyone,
James, Princess Elizabeth is the ex TFC P51 C now owned by Jim Beasley and based near Philadelphia. I’m not sure about the staining down Princess Elizabeth’s fuselage perhaps one of a resident engineers can clear this one up.
A final few shots headed by a photo of Lee Lauderback, President of of Stallion 51. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Lee and all his ‘Gathering’ team for devising and producing such a memorable event.

And another few.

Thanks Guys,
XN923, Polar Bear is a very rare Allison engined P51 A. Take a look at the link below.

I hadn’t realised the DAK had been to DX before, I’m surprised I missed it.

Very Nice Martin,
Looks like you had a better day on the Saturday, that wind and lack of light on Sunday afternoon wasn’t exactly making life easy for both pilots and photographers alike.
Like the unusual shot of the climbing Hunter, where were you standing?
All the best
Gary,
PS. hope to see you at DX over the weekend.
Thanks james.
Here’s a few more I was a bit rushed yesterday, hence only ten shots.
