I think you will find a few FRS 51 sea harriers were deverted from production for use in the war, and the navy would have had to replace them from their stocks if any were lost
As far as I can ascertain BAE were involved in producing certain modifications for the RAF GR3’s that were sent to the Falklands at the time, can you back up your claim.
By shere coincidence Indian Navy FRS Mk 51 Sea Harriers are going to embark on HMS illustrious shortly.
Are any of the indian sea harriers that fought in the falklands still serviceable ?
curlyboy
The FRS Mk 51 Sea Harriers were built specifically for the Indian Navy, and entered service several years after the Falklands War. Ironically at one time it was rumoured that the Indian Navy may be buying the recently decomissioned HMS Invincible, in which case the Indian Navy could recreate a superbly accurate Falklands War re-enactment.

What are the Sea Harriers in store for, are they to be sold overseas or are they being held in reserve for all future eventualities, otherwise why were they not scrapped or gifted to aircraft museums.

Sorry Ray,
No stick used just considerably stronger left arm since lens purchase last year.

Great stuff Septic! I can’t believe how good she looks, considering this aircraft was vandalised with graffiti a few years ago! What a shame the same TLC can’t go into the other Vulcans preserved outside? There must be constant work on her condition, most weekends I guess?
Thanks Albert,
As far as I’m aware the maintenance team for XM655 is relatively small but obviouslly very dedicated, BTW there is an excellent new DVD on XM655.

Very Nice SEMAE,
Is that a new Stearman on the circuit.

Thanks once again for all the kind comments,

ZRX61,
XM655 will never fly again, despite being in excellent condition and the youngest Vulcan surviving, the cost of restoration to airworthy condition would be astronomical, if 655 had been kept undercover at Wellesbourne from the time of its arrival in 1984 the possibility of flying again would I’m sure be much more positive, but the project would need massive support and immense financial backing/ sponsorship.
I can just see it now, the RED Bull Vulcan!!

Multivac,
Do you know who crews XL426 during the taxi runs.
Septic.
How do I get drool out of my keyboard?
Place it behind four Olympus engines!

I’m sure Dave and his crew would love to open the throttles on XM655, but in reality the engines are already throttled back when the Vulcan nose wheel lifts off the ground. Now if Wellesbourne was a bit longer 😀
A great event though, and well worth the 250 mile round trip. 😮 Next stop Southend for XL426 taxi run on Saturday 12 August.

Great shots Darren,
And what a great day to be up in the PT22.

Thanks, Russ/ Charlielima5,
The Hurricane and Spitfire replicas were manufactured by GB replicas, I’m not sure how long they’ve been at Capel Le Ferne.

Great shots Holty, No 3 is my favourite though, superb lighting.
