Thanks for all the comments, I’ve just added a couple more and resized the photos following some some photobucket problems. 😉

    Hi Tailspin,

It depends how much you want to spend!

Before all these amazing zoom lens came on the market I used to use a Sigma 400 APO Telephoto, it had a maximum aperture of 5.6 but gave good results for a reasonable price.

If your on a tight budget you could try a Sigma 50 – 500, I believe Tamron now have a similar product on the market although I haven’t actually tried one. There are other brands such as Cosina and Vivitar that do a range of budget zooms, but these can be slow to focus and obviouslly are not that good in poor light.

You always buy a Nikon 80 – 400 VR at around a £1000, but I have heard it is rather slow to focus.

Have you considered buying second hand. You might be surprised by what you could save. The other option is to trade your Nikon F65 for a Canon body as the lens choice is much wider and cheaper than whats compatiable with Nikon.

    Hi Blue Max,

Were video recorders around when Wings was first aired on TV, my family didn’t get there first one until 1981, Did the BBC ever show it again.

A great series that deserves a DVD release.

    Hi James,

To me the Typhoon seems louder than the Tornado, but that may just be down to the fact that the Typhoon can keep the display within the airfield boundaries.

Nothing shakes the ground like the Vulcan though. 😮

I’ve just had confirmation from someone who was involved with the filming that all the airfield scences were filmed at Dunsfold and the Dakota is indeed G-DAKS 😀

In the Constitution of the BAPC, clause 3.7 reads as follows…..

“3.7 – To raise the profile of the national aviation heritage and increase public awareness.”

If this is the case then why doesn’t the BAPC make a start by relaunching its own Journal ‘Control Column’, it may have have rather amateurish but it did offer a vehicle for the member organisations to publicise the efforts and events. It also offered the public an initial point of contact with the BAPC, with copies avaliable at member museums and airshows etc.

If this option proved to costly how about taking a regular page in Flypast, with clear links to an up to the minute maintained website.

BTW, totally agree with Bruce’s view on the future of Aviation preservation.. 🙂

    Ewan,

I know there are period looking bone domes on the market but at the end of the day, Paul must wear what he feels both safe and comfortable in.

Here is a final selection from OW.
