Hi Ant,
Not sure why the wings are off the Meteor, unless they going to try to squeeze it inside over the winter.
I personally can’t see Tangmere having the resources to ground run the Lightning, but I wouldn’t be suprised if the get all the electrical systems back on line.

Lovelly shots Snaps, espeically the Magisters and Tiger shot. I wish I’d made the effort to go now.

Steve Hinton in the Plames of Fame Buchon, could not fully lock the undercarriage down. He landed at Lydd perfectly until the leg retracted.
Incidentally, this is not the first time that this aircraft has been damaged.
After the Battle of Britain Film This airframe registered G-AWHG was reconfigured to resemble a razor back Mustang for the film Patton which was being shot in Spain. Unfortunately G-AWHG suffered a take off accident at Le Havre.
Later in 1986 after moving to the US the aircraft N3109 repeated the accident and ran off the runway on its first post restoration flight. I guess the amount of original Hispano material within the airframe is now somewhat depleted.

Septic,
The BBMF (Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster), Hercules, and Tutor are listed to display on the MoD RAF airshow & Flypasts page.
Geoff.
Shame its not the OW Avro Tutor, with its Reach For the Sky past.

A final selection from Legends, which includes a pic of the Battle of France Veteran Billy Drake. Lastly, did anyone manage to get a shot of the recently restored RE 8 that was hidden away at the back of the restoration hangar.

The last time I saw two jets land on grass was at Goodwood in 1986, when ‘Jet heritage’ turned up with their red and blue Jet Provosts.

Thanks Turbo NZ, I had hoped the B25’s would do a paired landing today (Sunday). I was all prepared for it, camera at the ready but somehow someone forgot to tell the pilots!

Thanks for the info animx, do you know whats due to display. Will we finally see a Spit or Hurri grace the hallowed grass of Kenley again.
PS. Wouldn’t it be nice to see the Vacher Hurri return to Kenley 65 years on!

Its simple, ‘Legends’ is the largest Historic warbird show in Europe.
Legends replaced three airshows in the UK season; Classic Fighter, Fighter Meet and Great Warbirds, so has naturally become the focus for so much attention. In someways its rather sad that Legends is the sole Warbird themed Airshow in the UK, as a similar event elsewhere in the UK would be healthy for the organisers, enthusiasts and operators alike.
Regarding this forum, the bias to Warbirds over WW1, Vintage and Veteran is huge. Hence the level of interest over Legends.

Thanks taylorman,
You can’t beat Old Warden for seeing the ‘Oldies’ on a regular basis. I can only think of Rhinebeck and Temora that stage displays each month during the season.

Last few for now, including SE 5A and Gladiator Cockpits.
Darren, sleep is for wimps 😀 Good to see you at OW yesterday albeit across a fence.

Hope to see you Friday, thats if I can complete 5 days work in four.
