Thanks for all the kind comments everyone, sorry to have missed you Anna.
I was quite pleased with the results, as it was the first time out with a new lens.

take the tube to Epping at the end of the Central Line – you can then get a cab or bus to the the airfield.
I remember going to the Fighter Meet on the tube all the way to North Weald!
Incidentally has the ARC Buchon flown since the overhaul and repaint, sounds like its going to be a great event.

Many thanks Mark,

Firebex,
If I remember rightly Peter’s contact details appeared in Wrecks and Relics listed under his Typhoon project, I haven’t got mine to hand so I can’t check.

Here’s a link to a 1996 view of the airframe G-BAYV.
Sadly not Tony.
A few years back there was some rumours of getting TA634 back into the air, but I think they were very speculative.

The Noraplha used to turn up at airshows in the early 80’s as part of the display staged by the friends of Biggin Hill, it was always painted as a crashed Me109.
The team leader was Peter Smith, the last I heard was that Peter had moved down to Hawkinge, I’m not certain but I believe he did help out at the museum there.

Thanks for the ‘Heads up’ Bruce, I popped in this afternoon and the FBVI looks magnificent.
Hopefully at some stage in the future the prototype will receive the same care and attention as the B35 and FBVI. Here’s a long range side view. More to follow tomorrow on another thread.

Unfortunately not, ARCo do have the correct spinners in store, but unfortunately no original Prop.

Hi Steve,
I met Jack Morton many years ago and have attached a photo of Jack with a RC Hurricane model. It is painted in the correct Polish squadron markings unlike the preproduction model shots I have seen.
The art dept also constructed models to be dropped by helicopters, I have seen photos of the Casa’s and Buchon’s in this guise. They are quite crude but were never intended to be seen in close ups. I’m sure they would have constructed Hurricane’s and Spits to be helicopter dropped.

David,
If you know the specific Military history of this or any other Buchon be sure to post here.
There has been the odd article over the years but very few details are known relating to an individual airframe. Just ask the owners they will all tell you the same answer.

I believe it was a great decision to repaint the Buchon into Battle Of Britain film markings, especially into its own specific markings. I just hope the commentators call it a Buchon rather than this mystical 109J that many magazines refer to, it always amazes me how they all started life in Germany.
My personal choice would have been to have painted the aircraft into the White spinner-ed examples, that steal the opening sequence of the film, which of course was filmed at Duxford. Unfortunately the exact airframes that were transformed into the ‘White Staffel’ is currently not known.
One day we may well see a Buchon fly in Spanish Air Force markings, especially if the FIO in Madrid finally acquire an example. BTW the Spanish did camouflage the Buchon as well, there not just Silver or Blue!
Lastly 633 squad, RR299 only flew in Mosquito Squadron.

Here is that mystery Buchon with the full wingtips.

Thanks for confirming the id Col, this pretty well confirms that con No. 166 / G-AWHI / N90607 stayed in these markings throughout the filming as the Buchon still wears its Yellow 4 markings today whilst in store at Big Spring Texas USA.
