    Hi Steve

All leg pulling aside my opinion of Southern Cross for what it’s worth is that it is a Sea Fury now and always will be – it looks like one and it flies so I have no issue at all with it and you should be proud of her as I know you are. compromises have to be made with most flying warbirds. One day when she finally retires we can all chip in and buy a stuffed Centaurus to bolt on her in a museum but for now she suits me just fine.

    Hi Melvyn

No worries – It was an honour to meet you and the Rearwin – I wouldn’t bother with the cowlings – just more stuff to weigh it down – it looks fine – remember the shuttleworth Pup cowlings fell off and you don’t want that happening !.

    For Jimmy Page

    Hi Jimmy

I am an overweight. ugly Australian 50 year old Aircraft nut with an interest in Warbirds and older civil aircraft. I flew Army types and have been interested in aircraft since I was 9. I flew in the Military and have been a senior executive in government departments for 30 years.

I hope this helps – My favourite types are Sea/furys, Mosquitos, Boomerangs and Beauforts as well as Australian P40s and I love our restoration efforts downunder.

Bad bad Rearwin man – naughty naughty – I am currently cooking chicken wings in fits of laughter just at the thought of you and the pitot cover. Thanks for some great memories and a great time – you should be very proud of the A/C it is stunning a credit to you!! I have just posted a pension claim form for the Rearwin and some nice tablets for you.

    Hi

I once had a Mitsubishi Pajero as they are call here in Aus

Got my face slapped in Spain when explaining it to a Spanish barmaid – something to do with a Donkey apparently. Not funny – she was very nice too!!! (the barmaid not the Donkey)

    Hi James

By doing the paperwork I mean working through the whole process – I agree I hope this is all a horrible mistake and it will be OK but most cases (not yet this one) result from impatience or ignorance on the part of the exporter.

Anyway if it stays in limbo for years we all lose

    My tuppence

    Hi Oscar

Well what was the result in the UK – show me your shopping bags!!!!

Only joking – it’s your business – how was the UK, I leave on Thursday – perhaps we can meet up sometime.

As for the Army museum – a cynic in me says that you could expect that post election “funding may have to be diverted elsewhere in the defence budget to higher priority tasks” as in the past or some such bull. Hope I am wrong but polies are renown for this especially this lot!!!

    Hi

Of course the other part of this stupidity is that now the parts will be in limbo for years whilst the mess is sorted out. Why can’t people just do the right thing and sort out the paperwork in the first place!

Hi just to re enter the spirit of the occasion
Stories about 3 great Australian airmen

    1) “Bluey” Truscott
    2) Clive Caldwell
    3) Bobby Gibbs

Love one or all to be made.

PS The movie to be made(possibly) about 75 Sqn RAAF in PNG has passed all preproduction approvals and is in the final funding round – this doesn’t mean that it will be made just that it is at the final hurdle – money !!!

Still it is very signifigant that a film has made it this far through the process and they usually suceed sooner or later from here. Fingers crossed. It is possible that a couple of surviving RAAF P40s from PNG could be used in the film,

    Kindest regards

    Hi

I agree about rarer UK machines – anything is possible – nobody thought the Buffalo would turn up or the Ju88 or the He111 or the B17 or the P61 or the ………

I believe there is the potential for much more to happen we just need to be patient and if possible help in whatever way we can.

If those in the UK with the skills were to identify as far as possible where and when the aircraft went missing and research sites etc this would help locate this sort of thing – remember the Loch Ness Wellington etc

I am not saying people aren’t doing this now but even more help would assist.

    Hi Tony

It always depends on what you want to do with it..

It is best to look at Adobe Photoshop 7 as the current “best practice” product because of the features etc and generally I would agree – it does everything and I definately reccomend it but it costs a bomb and a lot of us don’t have that sort of dosh.

Some of the lesser products such as paint shop etc are pretty good too .

Perhaps if you specify a little more what you want to do i can be better able to reccomend a product.

    Hi

Does that Renault mean he will be part of their F1 effort next year now that they axed their stars there – he certainly knows how to drive fast in multi piston machines. I don’t think Bernie Eccelston is going to like changing the rules to allow that big yank radial in the back of the Reggi though!!!
