Oscar my best friend has just been made trade comissioner for Queensland in Bangalore and is a warbird nut – I already have him following up stuff, is there something you would like to have him check out. He knows his way around as he is also an Army Colnel so there won’t be any stuffups.

    Hi Kiwis and Nermal

Thanks for that and yes I think we are going over a past post but I think thats because there was no resolution last time.

Given last week I don’t think anything is impossible anymore but as you say I really do think if there was anything to this we would have known by now. Still we live in hope.

    Kindest regards
    John P

    Hi

I might be having a seniors moment but wasn’t that where the engines were dug up – I don’t think the aircraft were there – Perhaps I am getting this confused

    Och Aye

Well I am sorry I confused you !!!

I gathered it had been used as a “christmas Tree” but I just thought it odd that the skins were missing from underneath and if you lookk at the photos carefully the fairings at the wing roots appear to be loose / falling off and rough at the edges – curious.

I wonder if it was being dismantled – how much stuff is lying nearby on the floor of the lake..

I hope I get the chance to catch up with you when I visit in a few weeks

    Regards

    Hi Peter

In the book I mentioned above there is a comprehensive list of NZ presentation and other RAF ones flown by Kiwis but this machine is not on that list so that may indicate you are correct. I imagine that is just the name the pilot chose.

If you don’t have the book I can bring a spare over for you if you want one.

    Hi Dave

Whilst I was in Dunedin in April I picked up a copy of a book that is being remaindered over your way at present called Spitfire- The New Zealand Story – Do you have a copy – very good for research – Gerard S Morris of Christchurch wrote it and I am sure he will help you track down the info you are after

    Hi Col

I think this may cause a bit of interest here in Australia and in NZ as we both have an addiction to DH types and when I was at Croydon A/C at Mandville on the South Island in April they seemed to have one of just about every DH civil pre war model either flying or under restoration .

So It could go anywhere I rekon.

I was aware years ago that things wern’t too good on the upkeep side but I believe things are better now?

    Hi Doghouse Leader

This is dog house resident (Setter = dog get it?)

Welcome aboard from Brisbane Australia AKA centre of the known universe and a lot of warbirds live here with more arriving all the time.

I just need to warn you that this and the WIX forum are FDA classafied as addictive and the surgeon General reccomends adult supervision.

    Kindest regards

    Hi

    Again fantastic effort.

Was an Empanage recovered and how complete is the aircraft, it seems that a fair bit of skin is missing around the nacelle area – any theories??

    Hi

Great photos as always. At least I know the Duxford Bearcat isn’t the one on the way to Australia !!! I will be there in a couple of weeks – getting quite twitchy no seeing those pics

Anybody know which Bearcat is coming to Brisbane – I would love to know and who has bought it and one of the Canadian Avengers which is also here soon.

    Regards
    John P
