It is good news. EI said that even after they pulled out of OW in April they would still codeshare with AA but I wonder what will happen now that this is in the open?

Do you think that more airlines could join this allaince to create somthing simple and easy and challenge some of the exsisting alliances which are expensive and complicated.

UK passengers will be able to book for example BHX-DUB-JFK-onwards to 51 destinations. Doesnt that sound better than heading to LHR or for some people Im sure it sounds better than sitting in a CO 757 across the Atlantic. (not me personally)

Usually schedule changes are for little things. The aircraft may arrive from another destination into AUH which has slot restrictions and they need to have a minimum time to turn the aircraft around.

Maybe the extra few minutes is to accomidate transfers which are popular but the exsisting schedule may not allow sufficent connecting time when people see that it can put the off.

How many slots do BMED hold at LHR?

To me this airline is getting worse making more stupid desicions every day.

They are short enough on long haul aircraft and now they lease it out to another carrier.

I suppose they will earn a little on this but what about their own long haul programme?

Maybe its just me and maybe my opinion is stupid but I really cant see this airline ever getting anywhere.

I can see where Gary is coming from. Thomsonfly dropped their Doncaster flight just after FR started the route. Other dropped routes include IB to BCN although it will now be operated by clickair.

Air Malta are apparently dropping their MLA-DUB flight although they were only one weekly.

HLX loads into DUB were quite good. The reason they stopped was because of Ryanairs daily flight to Karlsruhe Baden-Baden which is about 1.5 hours from Stuttgart.

Karlsruhe in itself has a huge population and with FR fares HLX just werent going to survive.

We have Centralwings starting a new route next week to SZZ I cant spell the full name so it isnt all doom and gloom for foreign carriers at DUB.

I know the 737s were transferred from mainline to baby but it still wouldnt make sense to buy 73Gs would it?

Fair enough about crews not being able to transfer from one airline to another but from a maintenance perspecitve does it not make sense for them to have as few types as possible.

If maintenance on the current BD and WW fleets done at the same place?

Good point Tentije I forgot about Jetblue but they have had alot of teething problems according to ro things I have read. I know those problems are inevitable but the BD group could get away with it by ordering A319s.

How much commanality is there between the E145 and A190s.

I really am bewildered by the bmi group.

On one side I know they need new aircraft to expand and to help WW grow but then on the other side I dont think they are making the most of what the already have.

My opinion is that if the aircraft are for bmi mainline then they should be A319as the already have a strong fleet of A319/A320 but it doesnt take a genius to come to that conclusion.

If the new aircraft are for bmibaby they should also be A319 simply to keep things like maintenance simple and if the really needed to crew could switch from one airline to another.

73G is an awful idea as they just dont fit into the current fleet.

The idea of replacing the WW 737s with E190s is stupid. It is an unproven type in LCC operations, I know BE are introducing them but they havnt proven themselves yet against the 737 or A319, again just my opinion.

Then again we all know that the bmi group arnt the best at making desicions.

Quite possible. One day last week in work, all inbound transatlantic flights were running between 30-45 minutes ahead of schedule coming from various points in the US EWR, ATL and ORD.
