DUB was a nightmare aswell. I was to windy to unload the aircraft because they had the risk of doors being rippd off aircraft. Some flights had to wait 2-3 hours. The DL flight I was working with had a 2.5 hour wait. Thank god its thursday which is a quite day for us otherwise it could have been much worse.
Very sad news as mentioned above condolences to his family and may he RIP.
I always imagined LHR-CDG being one of the better performing BD routes.
I suppose when you look further into it LHR is a huge O/W hub and CDG a S/T one then BD operating for *A were never going to transport alot of connecting traffic on the route espeically when most *A carriers operated their own flights to CDG and LHR anway.
And again with O/D traffic the other forms of transport between London and Paris just expedited BD decision to drop the route.
This decsision then raises questions about what BD will use the LHR slots for?
More long haul routes? or more stupid short haul routes like NAP and VCE.
How about a double daily INV service although I know loads on the 1 daily flight are not great. How about ORK-O/W dominate this with EI now feeding alot of passengers onto SQ services, Im sure SQ would rather feed BD as a fellow *A partner. Any other suggestion?
Thanks for all your responses. It turns out we arnt that bad aftreall!!!
We also handle Flybe and Luxair and both operate small aircraft into DUB and they always ahve their bags in 15-20mins.
I quess those who give out are just people who like to give out.
So Manchester really will become a strong hold for FlyBe.
If they could retsart their co-operation with CO or create a good partnership with some of the other long haul carriers operating into MAN then they could get huge business from feeder traffic.
There is real potential and great oppourtunitys for FlyBe at MAN.
It wasnt anything to do with secuirity. The 3 men were in a Garda car beide the aircraft and about to be escorted on board when the 3 men ran away.
2 were quickly caught on the airfeild but the other man managed to get home and was got there.
Ahhh SAS A340 we had one in DUB on Sunday it was heading into the hanger.
I nearly crashed at the sight of it, along with the A321 the A340 in SAS colours are two of the most magnificent aircraft around.
I believe there was an articale in a past copy of airliner world about spotting in CPH Ill see if I can dig it out.
Hopefully this will begin to get the dimwits who dont bother to tag their luggage to change their ways.
Just out of interest do all you people tag you bags inside and out or just check them and hope the tagthe airline puts on stays attached?
Well Gary I try to make at least one day trip from DUB a month.
Obviously you can get just about anywhere in the UK.
In the last year Ive done FRA, DUS, SXF and LHR and they are all great spots although the day return flights to SXF are no longer available.
Also available from DUB with EI as well as some other airlines are BRU, CDG, MUC,AGP, ALC, NCE, KRK and MAD. If you look at the EI schedules BCN is also available for the summer.
Although a little more expensive you can try BHX, BUD or WAW.
And there is some others if you fly out with one airline and back on another although times arnt ideal but they include RIX and BTS/VIE.
So the number of day trip oppourtunities from DUB is far from limited.
Well DUB had a great year with us for the first time hitting 20 million passengers.
The unfortunate thing is there really wasnt room for them and there certainly isnt room for many more but 2006 saw Peir D beginning to be constructed plus plans released for the long needed T2.
Route wise the biggest one without doubt was the launch of Dubai by Aer Lingus.
There was other of course like Turin, Porto and a number of other Ryanair destionations over 20 infact as FR finally launced new Europen routes from DUB after a long drought.
The biggest news this year was the FR plan to buy EI.
For 2007 we finally get a decent connection to ATH aswell as a new Centralwings route to Sczhein (not sure how to spell it)
Aer Lingus-A320/A321/737-500
Ryanair-737-200/737-800/Bac 1-11
British Airways-737-500
Germanwings-A319
Lufthansa-A319
BMI-A321/737-400
Iberia-A320/MD-88/727
Futura-737-400
Well Im sure U2 and GSM will make their feelings felt but this is something which FR could fall out with the airport over. Its happened before and I wouldnt be surprised if we saw FR routes from LPL being moved to MAN.
Stranger things have happened!
Your really obsessed with Easyjet. Fortunatley U2 dont even operate to DUB let alone serve DUB-SXF.
I have some family in Karlsruhe it really is a lovelyplace. The whole of baden-Wurtenburg has found a place in my heart in the last year I have some great memories there.
