I see. Back then there was no J10 for decades. Then J10A was better then JF17 and Pakistan would only get inferior J10’s. Now there is a story about them getting FC20 (improved J10 with western parts) that make you think twice. We have several claims about that but you probably need contract copy. Unfortunately you will not get that. About Jx or whatever. Do you think the Pakistani wait for a US degraded plane? I think you should use your own knowledge then asking something that the owner is not even willing to publish. Does China talking openly about it? I doubt that. As Rimmer said often, you do not have a single idea how to extract info from things that are written on the net or by own research.

What is included?
When will it be delivered?
What will be done inhouse?
What are the reasonable costs that can be added in the Chinese price?

SPADA is a short range SAM, and is known to target only fighter jets, choppers and some slow moving missiles. Brahmos and Shaurya reach speeds of Mach 3 to Mach 6. Pakistan would need Patriot-3 to defend against these two.

SPADA 2000 is a localized quick-reaction SAM of 20 kms range, whereas Akash is a highly mobile SAM of range 30 kms and 18 kms altitude.

According to the link that Rimmer gave, SPADA can defend against fighter jets and their rocket propelled stand-off munitions. It’s a localized last line of defence and is NOT mobile. So, it’s coverage is smaller. It cannot defend against tactical ballistic missiles or supersonic missiles like Brahmos or Shaurya as they’re too fast for it to detect and react on time.

Akash is a medium-range SAM, that is highly mobile, because of which it can defend a large area of defence. It can protect sensitive installations, as well as move along a mobile armoured column. Because it’s massive surveillance radar range has over 180 kms range, and it’s Rajendra radar has over 100 kms range, it has enough time to detect low flying fighter jets, and subsonic cruise missiles from a large distance away.

Yes and what Jets did you bring down a chopper without no protection and old Mig 21s and Mig 27s. That is hardly the kind of threat PAF will face now.

As for the SPADA 2000 yes i read about it but how many are inducted, what is the rate of induction. When will there be enough batteries to defend all your high value targets.

By the time its inducted in numbers, chances are that India will probably have the MRCA inducted with more advanced Jammers, towed decoys and what not.

Missile maintenance system inaugurated

KARACHI—Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, inaugurated the `Missile Maintenance Complex’ at a PAF Base in Karachi. An ISPR (PAF) statement said here on Thursday said that the Complex is a significant enhancement of PAF’s engineering capability to support various missile systems. During the inaugural address, the CAS appreciated the personnel involved in the project for their professionalism and hard work to complete it within short time. The CAS hoped the complex would further strengthen PAF’s defence capabilities.

Pakistan will test-fire next spring the Spada 2000 air defense system it has acquired from MBDA Italia, officials at the Italian firm said.The test-firing, which will be staged in Pakistan in the first half of 2010, will follow the delivery in February of the first of 10 Spada batteries ordered by Pakistan for 415 million euros ($565.1 million) in 2007.”We aim to deliver all 10 of the batteries within 36 months of the test-firing, that is to say by 2013,” said Antonio Perfetti, CEO of MBDA Italia, which is the Finmeccanica-owned Italian operation within the European missile house MBDA.Operated by Italy and Spain, each Spada 2000 system features two firing sections, each containing two to four missile launchers, each hosting six Aspide 2000 missiles. The missiles have an intercept range of more than 20 kilometers.Since the contract became operational in February 2008, MBDA has launched the construction of facilities in Karachi for maintenance on the systems.The set-up forms part of an offset arrangement on the sale, which Perfetti said had been “important” to winning the contract.Two facilities are being prepared, one for maintenance of the Spada system and a second for guidance system testing and maintenance of the Aspide missiles, both completed in February.Training of Pakistani technicians will start this year, while Pakistani military officials visited MBDA in Italy last week to follow progress, part of a cycle of visits.Perfetti said the Italian military was continuing to act as liaison with the customer. Rimmer put your pride aside and look at the respective airforces inventories and Pakistans Air Defense capabilities and you will soon realize that hitting targets inside Pakistan is not very difficult for the IAF.

There will indeed be losses on our side but the truth is that PAF neither possesses numerical superiority nor technological superiority. Pakistan does not have state of the art SAM installations either.

You are either not reading peoples post or you have memory loss. It was not state of the art SAMs that Pakistan used to bring down IAF jest last time. It was 10 year + MANPADs.

This year PAF will be inducting SPADA2000. IAF will be facing a much, much tougher challange then it did in 1999.

Can you not comprehend this, even other Indian posters understand this.
