One of my better shots. I think. 🙂
The JAS 39 Gripen. A pure beauty in design. And a wonderful performer! 😎

Fantastic shots Darren! 🙂
I left half an hour before the show ended, so I can’t say for sure if the A-26 performed or not. It was to have been displayed sometime in the early afternoon IIRC. But it wasn’t.

Great shots! 🙂 Although it breaks my heart seeing butchered aircraft like that! 🙁
IIRC those Gripens comes from the F17 wing at Ronneby. And they are IFR capable, although the pilots didn’t have IFR training.
The A version stretch from 39101 to 39206. The B version stretch from 39800 to 39814. The rest are C and D versions.
That’s strange. From I’ve read the Eurofighter seems to be a very quick plane with power in reserve. It”s TW ratio is very good as are its wing loading numbers. Maybe it was the heat.
In Sweden there are more than one display pilot, and I’m sure it is the same in Britain. For example, I’ve seen airshows were the Gripen didn’t impress at all, and I’ve seen airshows were it really kicks a–!
I’m sure it’s the same way with the Eurofighter display pilots, some prefer to do slow airspeed high AoA manouvers, others prefer high speed snappy manouvers. It’s all up to the pilot.
I prefer the latter! 😀
The Gripen has this capability as well. 🙂
How about naming it after its predecessor, the F-16 Fighting Falcon/Viper. F-35 Falcon II or Viper II? Sure, the F-35 cannot match the graceful F-16 in looks(at all), but lets hope its capability does. :p
