Well, I’ll add my opinion and say that IMPO it was one of the best ‘Legends’ in quite a while – and I’ve been going for quite a few years now. I guess it’s down to what ‘floats your boat’ but there was plenty to float mine yesterday ! 😎

Rykodisc released a full CD of the BofB soundtrack a few years ago which included the rediscovered Walton material that was discarded from the movie.

Publishing copyright for the Ron Goodwin score is held by EMI Unart.

Ironically, most of ECA is Gibson’s own work except for the part which actually describes the Raid – which first appeared in Atlantic Monthly magazine and is believed to have been ghost-written by Roald Dahl.

Have to say that I found the ‘uncut’ version very disappointing – it isn’t really the original, uncensored version which would have really caused some controversy. Richard Morris had access to that manuscript for his Gibson biography which I’d recommend to anyone interested in the story behind the writing and production of ‘ECA’.

10 Lightning cockpits were acquired from Saudi through Keith Smith of Marine Salvage. In all 8 cocockpits were cut up and converted into Rapiers. After the film they were sold to a Japanese Theme Park.
Well that’s the story. I hope I’ve got it right!.
    Ian

Just to mention that one of these cockpits can be seen languishing at the ‘Woodland Adventures’ park in East Sussex…..
