101 uses of a Mustang…….
Take it to the top of a big hill, stick the tail in the ground, with the nose pointing skyward, and call it ‘The Angel of the North (American)’:D
Would make a nice tourist attraction

Also depends what you are calling an original part!! If you find an aeroplane now, do you count everything on it as original?
Many parts may have been changed in service. Has someone tried to restore it before?
It’s like Triggers broom ‘3 new heads and 4 new handles and it’s still going strong’.
Willow
Absolutely.
You’ve hit the nail right on the head there Moggy.
Hey, it’s turning into a right Carpentry lesson this afternoon isn’t it:)
Willow
No it isn’t 😀
Willow
Hear, hear.
It’s like their constant use of ‘plane’. Makes it sound like a childs toy.
Willow
But the ‘personal needs’ situation must be horrendous.
The rear fuselage must have been full by the time he ‘landed’ 🙂

That’s one hell of an endurance for a Yak50 😀 😀 😀

Going to the beach for your holiday is very popular.
Maybe Janie is just ‘on vacation’
Willow
Yes, the single seater is the Yak50, but I’m not sure if it has the same ‘walk away’ undercarriage system. I think that being a tail dragger, the 50s undercarriage retracts towards the rear, which would put it a bit far back in the wing to save the front end in a belly landing.

I think it depends on what you count as preservation. To use a recently mentioned example, I would not say that Spitfire TE184 was ‘preserved’ at this moment. It exists, yes. And your right, that does matter, but it is not being cared for or maintained (that we know of) so does it really count as preserved?
25years ago, the Avro Lincoln at Southend would have counted as preserved. Does it still count now??
Willow
P.S. Yak, thanks for editing. Stops me looking like a right burk again!!
Mark12 is on to something. Yes. I think he’s right.
Willow
EDIT—- Daz has a good point also. Sorry about the stripping of rank there!!
Yak11fan is right in what he says. The info that DROPTANK claims to know is obviously confidential, that’s why he can’t tell us. But it does tell us that SM969 is on the move.
Unless, of course, he’s making it all up. And as he can’t prove what he’s saying because it’s confidential, whatever DOES happen to SM969, even in 20years time, could easily be claimed as what he knows.
The question is, untill it’s actually at an airshow in front of us, does anyone really care which barn it’s being stored/restored in?
Willow
(teddy getting nervous now)
Maybe they’ll find Janie?
😀

The Airshow public don’t know the difference between a Hurricane and a Spitfire. Let’s work on that one first:)
As for Hendon………
THE SUNDERLAND
of course.
Although the Ju88 would be good fun as well.

Is the Spit EP120? It has the squadron leaders pennant ahead of the cockpit.
Probably Legends, this year. But that’s a bit obvious I suppose.
