Best wishes…have a great day
There’s always the Boston Marathon…my CFOs wife runs it every year. I would run it, except I’m fat and I cannot run. Other than that, I’d probably win.
See, yer smilin’ already…
Very nice Steve.
BTW, have you had the opportunity to practice air combat with another aircraft? I mean in the very loosest terms, tail chases etc.
And have you tried any of the Sea Fury flight sims – if so, how does it compare with the real thing?
I didn’t get the opportunity to do many airshows this season with the Sea Fury, but I did get one show in where I was in a tight tail chase with Skip Holm in the Buchon. Guns guns guns could be heard repeatedly over the intercom. 😀
As for flight sims I’m afraid I haven’t tried one in years. The last one I tried was so “jerky” that it really wasn’t much of a simulator. Flying the Sea Fury is a very “fluid” thing, more pressure and feel than just moving the stick, but if you can recommend a good one I’d love to try it again.
As for photo #2…just another go around.
Just got back from our company Christmas party. We reserve one table for the Directors, and everywhere else is fair game. First come, first served.
We usually serve salad, then have a buffet line. This is the easiest way, as you can never make everyone happy. Have the veggies, a chicken dish, maybe a fish dish, and then a carving station with a beef tenderloin or brisket. Works like a charm.
We also give away door prizes (helps to get everyone out, which is the purpose of this ritual after all), and we have an open bar. Only had to turn down one new guy tonight who just didn’t understand the whole concept of social drinking.
The most fun ritual is the dancing after dinner. We use a DJ, as the selection can be more accomodating than having a band. Christmas parties are usually remembered in terms of who got drunk and showed out on the dance floor. They still talk about Gigi and her white dress(her real name) in the front office.
Good luck!
Steve
PS We also don’t worry about a dress code, as it’s completly unenforceable. We try to encourage “no jeans”, but with a mix of office and factory personel it’s best to just let people wear what they’re comfortable in.
“Join us now, as we tune in for another exciting episode of, Bash the Yank!
“Aye Andy, look o’er there mate, it looks like a Yank!”
“A wank? I don’t want to see that Melv”
“Don’t be daft And, not a wank, a Yank…an American!”
“Ohhh, so???”
“Let’s give ’em some welly”
“Oh, I’ll ‘ave some of that!”
banf whumf ugh bam thump wham
“Aye Melv, you were right, that was cracking good fun!!!”
Rob, I had to change the Sea Fury to the L-39 Avitar, as it’s the only thing that’s flying at the moment.
The other quote “Life is not a dress rehearsal” comes from Ike Innes, owner and pilot of the P-51 Miracle Maker. Ike game me a couple of rides in the Mustang (jump seat with dual controls) and got me hooked. It was the first time I had ever been in a fighter. As we were taxiing back to the ramp I commented to Ike that I’d really like to own a WW2 fighter someday. In his Canadian accent he uttered those imortal words, and my life hasn’t been the same since.
I am however looking for a F355, but it won’t be for a little while yet. It has to be a convertable as well to please the present Mrs EN830
Try and find a 1996 or later car, as the first year ’95s had a problem with the valve guides, and these fail at an accelerated rate. No problem with a Spyder, but I would avoid the F1 transmission in the F355. Stick with the 6 speed (it’s fantastic). The F1 transmission is much improved in the F360.
Ferraris have been the cheapest cars I have ever owned, as they have either appreciated in value or very nearly held their own.
Always been partial to these…

Great Cats! Too bad about Sweep, though…
Most excellent photo. You look just like your grandfather.
“He’s very clean”
I’ve always wanted an Ariel Square 4, but they’re also getting harder to find.
No, you can’t come and see it’s first flight.
Sorry,
Melv
Is that because it was restored for static display only?
Cowboy got his name because he’s always enjoyed riding on my back and shoulders.
Here he is from last night…
No doubt that being a moderator is a difficult job with no rewards. However, engaging in arguements with the people you’re supposed to be moderating is unacceptable, and leads to abuse through lockdown and deletion of threads.
The GD forum is the Wild West of the Flypast Forum. Given the “Free for All” nature of the topics covered here I just cannot see how a moderator can also engage in debate with the very people they’re supposed to be moderating.
