Silly boy…
Steve, you didn’t post the cone photo.
Speaking of photos, don’t you have some to share of a certain visit to you know where of a certain person sitting in you know what…
PS, Sorry I missed your last visit to the UK, but I hear you still had a good time at Old Warden.
I’m also sorry we didn’t get the chance to have dinner and to sample some of Mr. Hairyplane’s most excellent single malts and ports. I have now learned that a dinner by Nicky is well worth traveling 4000 miles.
Thanks again for all your help.

Do the Americans use the phrase CHAV, or do they have one of their own making ?
No, CHAV isn’t known in America…but White trash and Trailer Trash probably come the closest.
BTW, I can promise you that I was the only person in New Orleans on Remembrance Day wearing a poppy. I was asked everything from “Are you a Hare Krishna?” to some rather disturbing accusations concerning my sexual orientation.
You should have been there…really, you should have been there. It’s not my fault you were not there, because you should have been there…
…some more photos from my friend Scott Ashcraft:
I attended a funeral once where the gentleman had his ashes scattered in the front bunker to the 18th green at the Blue Valley Country Club. Said he could never get out of the ****er when he was alive, so what better place to spend eternity.
I kid you not…
BTW, I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to drop cremains (the politically correct term) from aircraft in the US. Still, it happens all the time.
theres always that bloke over Bedford way who’s got loads of Putnams books 😉 I’m sure he’d flog you something out of the loft!
Neil.
Except the one on Miles aircraft…
Don’t forget the Petwood Hotel in Lincolnshire. Mike J and I had a very enjoyable lunch there (they serve a nice pint, as well), on our way to Coningsby. The hotel was used by 617 Squadron during the war as the officers mess. Good selection of aviation prints, autographs and memorabilia.
Motorbooks in London is fantastic. Mike J took Andy and I there last month, and we didn’t want to leave. It’s close to the Leicester Square Underground, just down from Covent Garden.
I found 2 Sea Fury books that I had never even heard of! Great Stuff. Poor Andy took one look at the Naval section and went all pale.
What are you implying? Big Nose!
Right, say it once more mate, just once more, and I’ll hit you so ****ing hard…

Any more info about the 1930s style biplanes used for this?
Looks like a Starduster Too. Heavy emphasis on “duster”.
Not exactly 1930s, but then again anything with two wings must be 1930s as far as the press is concerned.
Don’t worry, barnowl…they’re just jealous. And as for Hairless Joe, well he’s about as American as Black Pudding.
As a new American citizen you no longer have to worry about the English infidels. You now fall under the protection given to all Americans by our constitution…”All men, and their sheep, are created equal”
God Bless America, and punish the naughty English…

I’ve got another China trip coming up in mid-February, so a stop in Australia and New Zealand on my way out wouldn’t be too difficult. If I can coordinate around an airshow, well all the better, but I’ll just have to see how the dates fall into place.
Steve
Yea, I’ll probably be there…
Most excellent posting on the Messerschmitt, Canada TD. You’ve obviously fallen in with the whole concept of posting about anything except warbirds, or the topic du jour. And now, for your viewing pleasure, here’s a photograph of a man on a bench… 😮
