Nice! I wish I had a place big enough to take it!
is anyone else watching this?
Yep, I dipped into the programme last night (don’t even know which base it was coming from), but immeditately got fed up with ‘Carl’ wandering off and then appearing again a minute later from a different direction, making all and sundry jump out of their skins – utter crap and a complete waste of time. I turned off.
‘Re: Air Show, there is a clip on youtube (I think it must be from that show) of Alain de Caddenet (spelling?) almost getting his hair cut by a Spit!’
I always thought it was from a Goodwood Festival Of Speed video??
Thanks indeed for the info guys.
‘What became of the one that had been in a Soviet museum?’
Is this the airframe that is now at Brooklands? I seem to remember it came out of the former Soviet Union?
Yes, I visit Brooklands quite regularly (at least once every two weeks, sometimes more) & would be glad to let everyone know of any changes as they happen.
up to 11,000 now.
‘but am I the only one who wanted a DMDC fleece?’
As both an historic aviation nut AND a metal detectorist, I absolutely loved both the series. (get the boxset!) The development, characters and story lines, as someone above said, made it the best of British comedy. Apparently Mackenzie Crook is a detectorist……………
Try and watch it on Iplayer if you haven’y seen it yet. Looking forward to the Christmas Special, too.
it’s probably in the Thames TV archive, or whoever owns it these days. (Freemantle?)
Indeed, Stuart! It’s a real pity we couldn’t do something with you, how is it coming along?
I haven’t seen the programme but will certainly on catchup/Channel 4 iPlayer, or whatever it’s called. As an aside, I work for the Discovery Channel. About 2 years ago I had a meeting with the head woman of our Discovery Turbo channel, as I had a about 5 car related programme ideas (I used to work for Formula 1 in the past and have produced 3 half hour documentaries that have aired on Motors TV) and wanted to see if she thought they had any legs (we are encouraged to put forward programme ideas sometimes…I actually work in Transmission at the moment). When it came down it it, she literally didn’t want to see any of the ideas at all, as I hadn’t any idea on who might present them…….and that was that. Which p*ssed me off for quite a little while………..
……..do we know if Booklands has been contacted in regard their cockpit section? (aside; do we know what’s actually inside it? As far as I can remember, it has always been locked shut.)
Brooklands certainly does have an ‘operational’ grass strip, it’s on the Mercedes Benz site, right in front of the car park where you park to then go into Brooklands. Don’t forget, the Vimy replica landed there, for starters.
