‘This caught my eye today on the net when someone posted a eariler note on the new Roger Bushell documentary and how difficult it was for the film maker to find a network to show the program.’
Are you kidding me? I have had a couple of automotive related programmes on-air and recently completed a half hour programme on the Lotus 72 Formula 1 car. We interviewed people Like Emerson Fittipaldi (who you MAY have heard of, a double F1 World Champion and Indycar Champion too) plus a host of other Team Lotus guys. Can I get it on air?? Can I hell!
I have tried all the usual suspects ; Sky F1, ESPN, Motors TV and Eurosport. Only Eurosport deemed to reply to me, ALL the others, after an initial e-mail conversation, COULD NOT BE BOTHERED to reply to me once they had seen a 4-minute clip. I got the guy from ESPN to reply to me eventually, whereupon he literally told me that ESPN ‘do not have any money’. I wanted £3,000 for the programme. Please. Whatever, I’m going to release the thing in DVD anyway.
So….what I’m saying here is that I am not surprised in the least that this programme has not found a home. Commissioning Editors are only interested in ‘reality’ shows and antiques programmes!
Oh, and if the mods will allow it, here’s the website for my F1 doco, please feel free to take a look ; http://www.lotus72dvd.com
Ah, and there was me, going by the title of the thread, thinking it was something to do with West Malling.
that’s a sweet looking aircraft!
Yep, have to agree. Really, really good programme making. As has been said, not afraid to talk about certain aspects of Bomber Command and its’ raids, it was also give a proper length duration rather than the de rigeur 24 minutes for a half hour. I, personally, REALLY appreciated the colour footage shot from a Lancaster at dispersal and from the upper turret on take-off (where did they get that from?) and also appreciated that there were no ‘re-enactments’ (in sepia tone), something that really upsets me. Class stuff from beginning to end.
that’s a great photo!
I don’t actually understand it. What a pile of s**te.
it was a pity they couldn’t get John Romain’s name spelt correctly in the graphic.
‘dont read too much into that advert. Although still active, It’s from feb 2010. Things have moved on since then.’
What?? So you’re telling me that the TV stations are running these commercials because they have nothing else to put out?
I forgot. And in the end it doesn’t look like I missed anything, either.
I’m vaguely looking forward to this. I’m just hoping it’s not your usual American documentary, i.e. just skims across the top of the surface of the subject matter.
I popped into Brooklands this morning and Delta Golf looks better the way it is now. No pics, sorry, I didn’t take my camera.
Great photos! Beautiful aircraft!
Yes, apologies, I should have stated that it is indeed WK198.
I bought myself a decent, HP, scanner, does everything, photos, negatives, slides, the lot. All for £300. Probably cheaper now. Has produced some great results from my motor racing 35mm colour slides of the 50’s etc. I can even scan strips of actual film too ; 8mm, 9.5mm, 16mm etc etc.
