Inverted Airliners
This brings to mind the Boeing test pilot (whose name escapes me at this time) who rolled the 367-80 (707 prototype) on its maiden flight
I am also reminded of the displays of the F27-400M by Major Boy Soons of the Dutch Air Force, of whom it was said that he never took off in a display, he merely retracted the undercarriage, cut one enginer and flew the rest of his display on one engine.
First flight on a Silver City Super Freighter from Lydd to Le Touquet August 1962 accompanied by my (at that time) fiancee and her parents
Although I worked for FG Miles, firstly for 5 years as an apprentice, and later for 6 years in the Mechanical Design office before being transferred to Link-Miles, I have never had the pleasure of a flight in a Miles Aeroplane
Any offers?

Wasn’t there a case (in if I recall the late 80s) of an NWA flight to Frankfurt landing at Brussels in error. Not so much as landing on a taxiway, the flight crew managed to land in the wrong country
Formation flights
I would like to see a Balbo style formation of BBMF Lancaster with a Spitfire and Hurricane as her “little friends” in the lead, and the second element consisting of “SallyB” with an escort of P51D Mustang and P47 Thunderbolt.
This is surely not an impossibility
Arec there any other suggestions ?

GR9s sold to USA
When I suggested in an earlier thread that the Harrier force was being offered for sale to the USMC I was shot down in flames with scorn
I feel somehat vindicated now
C130 Hercules
Great news about the Herc JT!
Im hope they consider conserving a “prodded” Hercules as a memento of the sterling work done by the Herc during the Falklands affair

I’ll be at the “Beau” at 12:00 with my “Wheelie” frame
(though I would rather meet at the Magister in the IWM hangar: its the only Miles Aircraft in their whole fleet)

Eastbourne Airshow
I first wentto Eastbourne six years ago by casr, and spent more time finding somewehere to park rather than watching the Airshow. When I go nowadays I go by train because it is cheaper and the railway station is very near the seafront
I have two resounding memories of Eastbourne. The first was the Harrier, that made a couple of passes over the crowd, who seemed to treat it as just another fast jet until he disappeared behind the pier and reappeared in semi hover mode, and the crowd became speechless, with admiration (partly due to the noise of the Pegasus)
The second memorable occasion was a B747-400 which mde a low pass from west to east, and seemed to take forever to make a 180 turn to fly back down the display line. You could almost hear the EGPWS screaming “Pull Up Pull Up”
If you can’t get to Eastbourne, then Shoreham is worth a visit as many of the propeller driven types use it as their operating base for Eastbourne and often give a mini display on their return to Shoreham after their slot at Eastbourne
Fedex updates
Thanks Joe for the info.
Are all the MD10s in service with Fedex, updates with glass cockpits?

Concorde Simulator
The Concorde simulator remains in the building adjacent to the airframe and can actually be ‘flown’, it you pay the fee. Always busy on operational days so booking early is recommended.
I am surprised the Concorde simulator is flyable. When one of my former colleagues at Linlk-Miles saw the sim two or three years ago, he reported that a chainsaw had been used to separate the cockpit wiring from the computer.
Someone must have done a terrific job of rewiring the sim assuming that the wiring/coding lists had all the updates incorporated.
Christmas is coming soon, and I know what I want in my stocking
