Nice idea Andrew,
Going to get us started? 😀
It’s almost 1:30am and I’m not tired – I must have something wrong with me!
Anyway, thought I’d take this opportunity to post two pics of BA 737-400s, G-DOCN and G-BVNN, the aircraft I flew on to and from Italy. Quite plain really in their Union Jack colour scheme…

Both such great shots, but I’m going to go with the second one. I particularly like the way in which the sun has hit the aircraft’s fuselage and has beamed off. I also like the way the tail and fuselage has cast a shadow over the smoke coming from the aircraft (sorry, not sure of the technical name for this smoke!).
Great review Mongu, glad you enjoyed your trip!
Tremendous well done to you Kabir!
I also noticed you reached 100 points on DC Forums rating system – well done again!
That’s a nice photograph.
I am a fan of the Jet2 Airways colour scheme, the colours work very well together.
I hope the airlines lasts and doesn’t just disappear like some have recently done…
Saab,
It was indeed Florence we travelled to. We spent 4 nights in the most awful hotel you could imagine. The trip was a Sixth Form one so it was 40 boys aged 17 or 18.
It’s a very scenic city with plenty to see and do. But being part of a school trip, you can probably imagine, your life is run by others and you have little choice in what you do.
The trip cost £290 for flights plus 4 nights accommodation in what was supposedly a 2* hotel. I always stay in 3* or above when travelling (I don’t mean to sound snobby), but I would have preferred and would recommend to anyone to pay the extra and get better for your money.
The city itself is (again, in my opinion) a very overpriced one. If you want food on a shoestring, order a takeaway pizza every night! Absolutely huge Margharita pizzas with extras on top can cost as little as £3 and these feed 3 or 4, but with an appetite like mine, it feeds just one!
Bologna Airport wasn’t the nearest airport for us to fly into. Within 5 minutes of leaving our Hotel in the centre of it all, I noticed an ATR72 of Alitalia turning above us, approaching another airport.
The airport was approximately 90 minutes by coach from the airport.
At the airport, I noticed a group of passengers boarding a Go-Fly flight to Stansted. However, the aircraft aren’t parked at the terminal, they can be parked quite far away. All I could see parked out on the airfield was an easyJet 737, would this easyJet aircraft be flying for Go in it’s own colour scheme?
RE: Low Cost Airlines
SKY BUS…!!!
Thanks dan777 :9
RE: planes
I really don’t see a problem with the Shorts 330 or 360, they’re both past their sell-by dates now but they look fine and do the job.
Technically, in the real world, an aircraft’s specifications and what it can do are more important than it’s looks!
That’s my view anyway — this is coming from someone who has not yet and probably never will step inside any Shorts aircraft.
RE: planes
Good choice SOFTLAD, I too like the 767-300 and always claim that -200 is too short and the -400 is too long, but the -300 is just right 😛 !!
I also like the DC-10.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-02-03 AT 03:32Â PM (GMT)]These soaps do depict real life, but as you say, they are miserable. Suspicious deaths, fraudsters, murderers, useless marriages and wife-beaters all in the same street!
A Challenge – Can you name some strong relationships in any UK soap? e.g. Ones where a couple have been married for years and not had a bumpy ride.
Let’s face it, that’s why we watch these things, the action cannot be resisted by anyone – myself included. Could you imagine watching a soap which really is supposed to represent everyday life in England? Not quite as eventful as these programmes make out – the wife would go to shops and buy some groceries, go home and make tea. The show would end with us guessing what she was cooking, whereas the over-exaggerating soaps end with who shot Phil or something equally interesting and exciting!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-02-03 AT 03:24Â PM (GMT)]It was mentioned in Airliner World a few months ago but I haven’t yet delved into them to see what it was.
It was the one with the really quite pathetic yellow(?) websites and was offering flights to 2 US destinations?
I’m getting really annoyed, it’s been on my mind all day!! x(
