They are out there, my ‘Mrs’ is nuts about Spitfires…. despite me being a Hurricane fanatic!
She has accompanied me to Aviation archaeology digs and got involved getting muddy as heck. She likes airshows, Sharp noisy pointy things and the Vulcan.
so yes, keep looking 🙂
Thank you 🙂
A fitting location for both memorials too!
Surely someone has a photo ? 🙂
I did not manage to make this as I had hoped, would appreciate seeing any photos taken yesterday 🙂
Someones been tinkering again 🙂
Thanks for posting that Bluenoser 🙂
(when you revisit the UK let me know, I promised to show you around Hunsdon once)
So in reality this airframe had only been submerged for about eight years at the most. Such a shame the foresight to preserve had not been administered. Without looking up or searching, What bomb group was it from and the fate of the crew?
Oh, and cheers Cees for the post 🙂
Umm…that looks entirely different from the Rudder Mass Balance I found at a Heinkel III crash site . No photo yet, its in the shed and late, will post a comparison tomorrow.
I’d like to put in a formal request for a lot of Hurricane photos. I’ll live vicariously through lots of Hurricane photos if you guys could all be so kind. 🙂
Ahh…..a man after me own heart 🙂
Rudder Mass Balance weight?
Something pointy ,noisy and fast From North Weald heading north about 1800 ish, legged it out of the house and it looked like a Hunter from behind..but I thought they were still temporarily grounded
And methinks Andy Saunders was involved 🙂
Out and about around Essex today in the lorry and all I managed to spot was a lone Spitfire SE of North Weald (Peter T ?), a lone Hurricane over Loughton half an hour later, and another Spitfire over my house heading north just now!
…well, perhaps the Crank and a couple of Undercarriage parts
