I echo the sentiment regarding another flying Hawker Hurricane. The more the merrier, for what I regard as a truly enigmatic aircraft. Well done to all involved 🙂
What a gorgeous model, so much detail that won’t be seen, which is a shame, but adds to the builders satisfaction knowing it is in there!
It has gone to Leuchars , the Sea fury was going with it, but remains at NW with slight tech probs. I just happened to be there this afternoon and spoke with the pilots.
Two from North Weald this afternoon…
Thanks for the link Dave 🙂
At least they still have a Harrier fleet…….. 😡
Yeah…made up by a lot of ours!
Sounds like that was written by a chap who stood near me at an airshow once describing the Hurricane to his very young son!
I cannot see what their problem is if the memorials are funded by private individuals. If the planning permission is lodged by those wishing to build it, and and the set fee accepted by the Parish council in which area the memorial would be placed in, then there is no need for the Parish council to spend any money whatsoever! In fact they will make out of it. All they have to do is agree at a local council meeting.
In this day and age you cannot expect a council to pay out for a memorial. If individuals form a group, then funds can be raised, along with local awareness and an appropriate memorial can be built.
Just two Hurricanes this year?
And which Debden, Debden near Chigwell, Essex or the better known one near Saffron Walden?
As sharp noisy pointy things go , she is a beaut! and will be sad to see it go.
But dare I say, an aircraft that is as important to American aviation belongs in America.
Which is why I would like to see a flying Mosquito here, oh to win the euromillions !
Many thanks everyone, the porthole type windows put me off of the Anson theory… back to aircraft recognition school 🙂
Maybe the pilot of the Beau, jettisoned his torpedo to make it a little more maneuverable against the fighter that had bounced him!
That poly tunnel at Cosford will be empty sometime soon as well. Perfect!. The P38 would be a very manageable project to preserve once broken down to it’s smain assemblies would it not?. Just as an idea, it could be left to soak in an average sized home swimming pool?
I just wonder what type of home you live in to have an average size swimming pool…however, I have a large birdbath available 🙂
Fantastic!
Thank you very much Paul. I knew…I just knew you would know 🙂
