Hmm
Cant see it, a 404 error when trying to open..any ideas?
Interesting items,
I am fairly sure the armourers retained them after use
incidentally, Jim C from the HAMG has an all metal 20mm cocking tool that has a T handle and a hook on the end for the Hispano cannons, that is about two and a half feet long. I will try to get him to post an image of it.
Then listen to this…
I too watched Dan snows program and the evening memorial service which I thought was superb. Out of the many phone messages into the CE show this morning , one caught me unawares.
A message from a lady whose uncle was lost on Ops over Holland and the story of his crews safe escape. She mentioned about a crew member who was made POW, and as a result of her uncles selfless action, lived to see his yet unborn son. The emotion in her voice as she spoke of how proud she was of her uncle sneaked up on me and grabbed me by the throat.
As is Jeremy Vine later in the day at 12.00
I turned off the Vine show as I couldnt stand his simpering sycophantic nasal voice any longer.
I’m not a great fan of the ginger one either, but Vines ‘Oooh theres a Spitfire taking off now’ right in the middle of Evans description of how emotional he felt regarding the Dams memorial events, was the last straw.
I too hope this goes well. and it will certainly make a change to hear and read the word Dornier and Goodwin, instead of Spitfire and Burma
Great piece of film, but why oh why the crap music !
Did you purchase those undercarriage legs via my contact DaveR ?
Fish deserve only two things, batter and Chips!
Hi
Probably a repro due to it only having two fixing lugs and not three.
BS
Are you quite sure about that?….look at post #10 on this forum thread.
I too inherited one with just two lugs, from the widow of a RAF chap who was also a pre-war gunner. I dont own it now, but when I got it over 30 years ago it was showing patina similar to a very old .303 cartridge case!
U-7144T White-Autocar 4ton tractor.
The linked article actually alludes to its identity as an U-7144T 🙂
I remember a part of the gondola in the scrap bin at DX in 1982, so I liberated one of the small square perspex windows and its frame. I’m glad I did, the skip was taken away and emptied a couple of days later!
Mosquito cannon bay door latch, Spitfire starting handle, Hurricane oil filler cap, cockpit instruments, live 20mm cannon shells,Parachute harness buckles,Radar components and dipole aerials from a Mosquito, many small electrical and radio components, Merlin exhaust gaskets, broken NAAFI and RAF crockery, 500lb bomb nose transit plug.
All from one particular airfield….
The man himself at the Hunsdon airfield memorial dedication in 2005. Even then he was suffering from his disease, but extremely kind and pleased to have been invited back to the former RAF Hunsdon. He is pictured here delivering a reading from the bible in memory of his comrades from 85 Squadron.
My only concern is that the collection of medals ect, stay together, and in the UK .

Just one,
He 111 H-4 Werke Nr 3294 Crashed at Newmans End 14th Sept 1940 (about two miles North of Matching) I investigated this in the early 1980’s, and recovered several parts including a Lotfe 7C bombsight that under some strange delusion of getting it back, I sent off to ‘someone reputable’ to look at. Needless to say I never saw that again:mad:
I suppose it could have come from any aircraft, not necessarily in this area.
Thanks anyway!
