Another one to the list of UK based Corsairs going overseas

FG 1D Paul Morgan to Cavanaugh Flight Museum USA

F4U-4 WOGB to Cavanaugh crashed at Oshkosh USA

F4U-5 WOGB to Jim Read damaged in above Accident USA

F4U-4 OFMC to Norm Lewis now Max Chapman USA

    FG-1D OFMC to NZ

F4U-7 Lindsey Walton to Jack Erickson USA

Just leaves us with TFCs FG-1D and the FAA example

Hope this Trend of Warbirds going oversees is soon Reversed

Yes the TFC Corsairs yellow is wrong

RNZAF Corsairs never did have yellow nosse

The only Corsairs during WW2 to carry a Yellow nose band on the cowling ring only were those operating in the invasion of the Japanese home islands in 1945 such as VF 84 on the USS Bunker Hill it was a tempory marking for the invasion only and much the same as D Day black and white stripes was deleted soon after as it was not good for camoflage

Certain USMC units painted coloured nose bands onto there Corsairs Like the OFMC one im sure it was based on this
