Horsham St Faiths
I have a disc with pictures that came to me via a friend at work. I have no clue who the photographer was/is or who has copyright to them and neither does my friend, some seem official pics, others not. If anyone does have copyright on them then I’ll be happy to remove them.
First up is an aerial view of Horsham St Faith Open Day in 1957.
Hope you enjoy!

Best wishes to all for Christmas and the New Year. Regards Dave

Hand Crimp Tool
Hi Bruce,
First off apologies for resurrecting an old thread.
While having a rummage in the garage I came across these pliers and was wondering if you’re still looking for a pair of Plessey Breeze crimp pliers?
There is only one set of jaws, the ones that are in the pliers. These are Code 106/108 jaws.
Also attached is an extract from AP1086 Sec 5X dated August 1960.
If you want them you’re welcome to them as they’re not much use to me!
Not into wiggly amp things.

Dave
Thanks Dave,
Indeed it did – parts found, and on their way!
Good stuff 😀

Pic 4 looks like either AGS710, AGS903 or AGS953 pipe to pipe coupling ni*ple, depending on material. AGS710 is Brass, AGS903 is Alum Alloy and AGS953 is steel.

Fire bottles
Not sure if any help, but attached are some pics of a Graviner TYPE182A bottle.
Although marked with Sec 27N there is no Ref Number stamped on the unit. I believe this bottle is for Dove/ern application.
My knowledge of Graviner products is limited, but with some of these type of units the bottles are the same it’s the fittings that ar different for each application.
Flytst have also sent you a PM

6A/3580
Hi there,
Ref Resistor 6A/3580 AP1086 sec 6A to AL181 (undated) lists this as an adjustable resistor (no values given).
It is listed under the section for Type C exhaust gas thermometer 6A/3577 which is detailed as having an 8 ohm external resistance.
Not being an electrician myself, not much info there I’m afraid.

Dave
Hi Jon,
The list only has it as Percival Provost under the section Light Aircraft-United Kingdom. There is mention in the military section of Jet Provost but no details, so would assume that it’s the Piston Provost!

Hi Jon,
Chipmunk main tyre size is 6.00 x 6 1/2 with p/n of DN3065 (sec/ref 27A/2500) or DB3065
I do have a 1960 dated Dunlop Aviation Equipment Manual which lists the Pembroke having the same nose tyre as the Chipmunk main, but the Prince is not listed at all. As a matter of interest the Pembroke is listed as being equipped with Dunlop tyres, wheels and brakes, this may explain why the Prince has a different tyre/wheel size as it’s fitted with Palmer wheels & brakes?
The only aircraft listed with tyres of 7.25 x 7 3/4 size are the Prentice & Provost, the tyre having a Dunlop part number of DR6610.
Hope that helps!
Best regards
Dave
Hi Johnnie,
I don’t have any information regarding what aircraft type the switches were fitted, but AP1086 Sec 5CW has the following info listed:
Switches, manually operated
Type 8B No1
4 terminals
1 pole
20 Amp
28 Volts
Dimensions 1.95″x1.32″x2.5″
3 Way centre lock, weight 0.23lbs
Drawing number D.10001
Class of stores B
Hope that helps with you finding out what it was actually used on!.

Dave
Hi Peter,
I can’t identify the switch from the pics, but AM Sec 8B is for “Aircraft gun sights and ancillary equipment”
Just above the AM and Crown is the partial Sec/Ref 8B/12
Hope this helps

Hi Stuart,
I’ve had a look through my copies of AP1086 sec 6A and did not find any reference to Whirlwind.
I would imagine the the 2 lines of red are ‘ TAIL DOWN IN RED’ as this legend appears on a number of similar fuel gauges, is there an additional scale marked in red on the instrument face? If there is there’s a good chance that’s what the legend reads.
Hope it’s of help to you.
Regards
Dave
