Touring cars have tried the first-to-last grid but even I’d have to admit that it may be rather too hairy for open-wheeled cars.
Get rid of the pit stops ; if you see a car in front of you then the only way to improve your position is to overtake, rather than think ‘I’ll keep the gap steady at 1.2 secs and hope that my teams pit strategy is better than his….’
Really, all this ‘1st place is 20 secs in front of 2nd, who is 21 secs in front of third’ is a bit of a joke – I’ve seen closer finishes at Le Mans…..:(
Put someone interesting in the commentary box.

The Cirrus 22 is fitted with a ballistic parachute system called CAPS, it has been used in anger a few times and works very well, bringing the aeroplane and crew safely down to earth together. It’s not a very big system and they are being fitted to more and more different types of aircraft. I have flown as a passenger in chipmunks, bulldogs and navy grobs since the early 70s and realistically I doubt very much in most emergencies I would have abandoned any in a double quick time. Most of these flights operate below 5,000′ giving aircrews little time to escape effectively (let alone novices)
It may now be time to look at this system and if possible retro fit it to our tutor/grob fleet.
It pains me to see another tragic loss.
Please don’t chastise me for my opinion ( it may be tosh, but it’s my tosh)

Pitstops.
Not enough teams
Once a season they should reverse the line-up, the pole sitter plum last etc only telling the teams 10 mins before race. What a race that would be.
Once a season only the girlfriends and wives do the pitstops (allowed a weeks notice for training) That will make the pitstops more interesting.
Once a season reverse a track and go anti clockwise 1 hour before qualifying.
how would you make it more interesting?

Hello everyone, 🙂
I am new to the forum, and thank you for taking the time to read this first post. The Key Publishing site has been of great help to me in the past, so I have joined up in the hope that I can return some of that energy back over time.
In meantime, the reason for my posting is that I have been trying find two books, with no joy. These are the first two books put out by Robert Rudhall on the Battle of Britain movie. Does anyone know where find these, or where the publishers are based now, as neither Mr Rudhall or the editor can be located at all, please!? Can’t find the books, or anyone associated with with them.
Any assistance gratefully appreciated
Nate
I’ve sourced approx 290million(+) books worldwide and found another copy.
its here :-
cheers
Baz
Welcome to the forum
Having to dismantle laminator after cat got tail fur caught in roller, having to turn aforesaid cat upsidedown because screws are underneath device, having to trim front cats claws to save own life, having to dissasemble top roller with cat attached to elbow, having to detach a very pi**ed main coone from my elbow, having to reassemble laminator with bits left over, having to smell the aroma of burnt cat for the next hour, having to work out what random button pushing she did as she walked over keyboard whilst I was fixing laminator.
I take it all back
She’s laid on my lap looking up at me purring her head off:(

Well done Baz she is a very sort after bird being the largest piece of T22 left, good luck with the restoration.
All the best Matt
Thanks Matt
I want to keep RichyD as a part of her restoration, it was a sad moment for him watching me drive off with his pride and joy last Thursday.
Hopefully we’re meeting up soon to discuss the beginning of how to put all the bits together, there are a lot of bits!!
I’ve had my engineer look at it………..there were a lot of quiet moments:D
(I’ll have to change the batteries in my cattle prod)
He’s the boss of GateguardsUK and a clever bloke.
Dr Strangelove is also involved and he is also another very clever engineering guy.
I think Richy was worried that WT525 may have been broken up for bits and sold off on ebay, not so mate, we’re going to give it our best shot.
If anybody would like to get involved in the southwest give me a call.
cheers

I have never been convinced that this shows the result of a destructor charge going off. The aeroplane was a 234 Squadron Spitfire lost on 15 August 1940 having forced-landed after being hit and damaged way out in the Channel. One for Mark12, perhaps, but I didn’t think the destructor charges were fitted until much later on? Even in 1941, when “Buck” Casson was shot down in France, he destroyed his aeroplane with a “PORTFIRE” which set fire to the petrol swilling around in the cockpit. A Portfire is a case of strong paper filled with a composition of niter, sulphur, and mealed powder, – used principally to ignite a primer or as an incendiary material in shells. It was an incendiary device pure and simple, not an explosive charge.
The damage shown in this picture of AZ-H could well be the result of one or two HE 20mm rounds exploding inside the fuselage. There are clear “frag” marks probably from shell splinters and I am not sure we would be seeing these marks if the damage was caused by an explosive destructor device. In any case, would there have been any need to “destruct” a TR9D radio? IFF was not then fitted so far as I know? If Spitfires that were routinely operational over France in mid 1941 did not yet have destructor charges it seems to me unlikely that one that was operational for the home defence of the UK in 1940 would have such a device fitted. I have certainly never seen any evidence of such devices in more than a good few 1940 Spitfire and Hurricane wrecks I have seen across the years.
Thanks guys,
It’s why I like this forum!
I had a search through my archives and found this.
Not sure if it is an entry wound, never noticed it before. Would have been a good deflection shot if it was ( might be talking more tosh ) This is part of a larger photo and is at it’s max enlargement.
Apart from Air ace etc, this is my original hippo book of bombers dated 1965.
remember these?
There was a (crappy) B&W photo one side and details the other.
The British aircraft were always ‘weights and performance – secret.’
Damn that must have hurt.
Having to be cut out of your Ford Escort for an hour would be really bad, but to have your pride and joy (and investment) be gently cut away around you…………….unimaginable!

Obtenez à puits bientôt mon ami, espérez que vous pouvez réparer votre avion.
Looks repairable, in this country it would end up as 2 Stearmans and a Tiger Moth:D
