Wasn’t this the meteor the meteorflight was restoring to flight for themselves? Where does this leave them? Will the flight at Yatesbury seize to exist?

I can’t honestly answer that question Fouga. What I can say is that I was told that Mike will be funding the rest of it’s restoration, which may very well be with Meteor Flight, plus they also have other aircraft.

Ashley I cant seem to PM at the moment? Either that or it’s not registering one’s that I’ve sent? Try sending me a PM, see if that works.

P.S. I see somebody has signed on just to copy and paste the write up I put on Caledonian Chipmunks and post it here without mine or Taffy’s permission.

Ok, just to clarify what it say’s in Wreck’s & Relics –

Operated in Aden, then to 653 Sqn, then RAF St Athan before going to Rabley Heath near Stevenage for a long period of open store (blue scheme) before moving to Andrewsfield around 1991 and then onto pastures new around 1996ish, passing through Middle Wallop before ending up at Okehampton with the late Mike Somerton-Rayner as a spares source.

Now the challenge of finding photos for ‘T6’ and adding some detail. 🙂

    Hi Will,

Thanks for correct info. As I’m less than 30 minutes from Deenethorpe the thought of the flight moving there is one that would bring great joy to me, so false reports like this annoy me because now I’m almost expecting it to happen (even though I keep telling the brain not to think like that) and if it comes to nothing I’ll have got all my hopes up for nothing. 😡

Just wondering if anybody in the know can say anymore about this as this month’s Pilot magazine says “Mike Collett has revealed that he will maintain the Classic Flight next year, moving to Deenethorpe Airfield, Northants, that Air Atlantique has purchased, when the site is prepared”. I’ve learn’t from the past not to trust magazine reports so was just looking for some ‘from the horses mouth’ info. There website has no mention of it and as a Classic Flight Club member no one has sent me any news?

    Caption competition folks?

I’ll start it with: “One of them’s called Fat Bullet” 😀

Ok, I’ve got 2 pens, 3 crisp packet wrappers, an empty can of Coke and a mouldy pork pie in the footwell but no money, how we gunna pay that landing fee? 😮 🙂

Copied and pasted from the Air Atlantique Classic Flight website : http://www.classicflight.com

    TIME TRAVELLING RAPIDE!

de Havilland Rapide G-AIDL is to star in the new BBC3 series and Dr Who spin off, Torchwood. The Episode “Out of Time” will be aired on December 17th.

The premise for the episode is that a plane from the 1950’s lands in modern Cardiff, courtesy of the Rift; the passengers are reoriented by the Torchwood team, who become drawn closely to their lives.

The filming took place at RAF St Athan and the ‘Sky Gypsy’ nose art was applied for this purpose.
