I haven’t heard anything about it moving on so I think G-DHXX is still at Hurn. I think they want about £39,000 for it – so if your feeling flush! 😎 You could ring them on (01202) 578999.

Air Atlantique Historic Flight – add an airworthy Hunter and the Sea Vixen and they have it all.

Delta Jets – probably my favourite group.

The Hunter Flying Club + Hawker Hunter Aviation – Great collections

ThunderCity – very friendly and helpfull, the engineers actually ask if there’s any questions you wish to ask them while your there.

Thats most of East Anglia under water then, wont be far for me to go to the beach!

The thing is although we think of this planet as a paradise it has only really been hospitable for us humans for a short speck of the time that it’s been here and I dare say some day soon it will become inhospitable again and we will be like the dinosaurs. But will any other life form that replaces us be as stupid as we are? The only real thing we have to do in life is gather food, make babies and protect ourselves. What other species on the planet has been so stupid that it invented work and all the wonders of modern life that make us all stressed out, depressed and worried over totally unimportant things. I bet the birds and other animals look at us everyday complicating our lives and pi$$ themselves with laughter.

So you’re saying that if a museum aircraft has no interior, that makes it okay to paint it in false colours???….hmm, okay tomorrow we’ll paint the F-100 pink to ‘please the lady visitors’, as there is no engine in that??? :diablo:

Nice, there could be some mileage in that. Sales of F100 kits to the ladies might shoot up, maybe a compact and some Super Sabre cosmetics. 😀

If anybody doesn’t want one of there Hunters and wants to give it away I’ll have it!

I really dont think it matters what the service life of an exhibit like this is as long as its painted in an accurate scheme of one of its contemporaries. If no Black Arrow Hunters had been preserved is it right that all future generations be robbed of the opertunity to see a Hunter for real in this scheme just because the perticular aircraft had a more mundane service life?

At the end of the day whoever owns it can paint it how they like. 🙂

[QUOTE=John C]Anyhow, I’ve been known to travel at over twice the national speed limit, and I’m still here[1].

You dont even need statistics to prove that with the current increasing population levels, there will be be more deaths simply because there will be more people driving !. More people driving = greater chance of a prang, its inevitable.

Only if the poor standard of driving in this country stays the same! Far to many people who dont pay attention and far to many ‘bold’ drivers. You know the old saying. ‘ There are many bold pilots and there are many old pilots, but there arn’t many old bold pilots ‘. The same could be said for driving, although luckily for a lot of the idiots on the road there seems to be far more margin for error on the roads.

As for speed camera’s, if you ain’t breakin the law – you don’t need to worry about them.

Smoking kills more people per day than traffic related incidents, but we dont get bombarded with ‘smoking kills’ adverts on the radio and telly.

Er, yes we do! What have you been watching / listening to for the last 10 years?

Happy New Year to everyone. I would like to get more involved with aircraft this year. I hope to help out at the De Havilland Aircraft Heritage Centre this year but if anybody needs any help with anything else aviation this year let me know, I ain’t the most technically minded but I never complain about getting dirty or doing hard work. All the best to everyone. 🙂

I think all you lot need to get out more….. 😀

In the spirit of the new year ( and the fact I can barely write as I’ve drunk so much ) can we just all agree to disagree and say that we all have wildly different opinion’s on the subject. This isn’t really a debate more just a case of everyone stating there stance and not preparing to shift on it. I think we all love aeroplanes and the varied types around keep it varied and interesting, there’s room for everyone. The chance of seeing something like a Spitfire in the air is something to be savioured weather it be a rebuild or totally original. Lets call a truce before some of you upset each other and more valued contributors start walking away from the forum throwing there toys at every angle.

😉 I don’t believe anything Cambs council or other officials tell me,after all they want me to believe a mega expensive guided bus route alongside the A14 is a good idea and will be well used
As i assume nothing regarding Marshalls has been decided one way or another i would’nt be surprised if they built it next to Madingly War memorial,or some other inappropriate place. 😉

Or that spending millions on a couple of ‘poncey’ bridges – one over the A14, the other over the river – is good value for many when you’re standed bridge could have been done for much, much less. Glad I pay Suffolk Council Tax know! 😀 – Sorry O/T.

Hasn’t there been some comment on the effects of having the Red Devils practising on the airfield, what with the amount of props spinning during the summer and traffic from Stansted directly above. 😮

Oh yes! This has to be the worst bit of the whole thing. How many were destroyed over the two films?
