How would this fit in with any plans to move Marshalls from Cambridge,i know that it is only rumours at the moment but there is only a limited amount of room at Duxford.

πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Sorry, what you mean you actually believe that story!

This old chesnut again, this will run and run…….

I’ve got a 25 year old broom it’s had five new handles and six new heads, etc etc etc.

My 2 pence is that most aircraft we see today are – rebuilds – whether that is with original components or not. Someone has taken a core of an aeroplane and rebuilt around it.

There are VERY FEW original aircraft still out there flying, ones that have never had a rebuild ( MH434 comes to mind, but dont shoot me down if I’m wrong I ain’t no warbird expert ).

To use the word restoration in my mind you have to take the original components and restore them to there former glory. Obviously any service items don’t have to be the one’s it started out with because that was never the design intention.

Historic Aviation – well thats not an easy one, not many of the planes we like are really truly historic. We will all have different views on that so don’t even go there. Perhaps we should refer to all the older aircraft as Heritage Aviation as that seem’s to be the ‘in’ term to describe anything old.

If you want to build a replica, scale or not – do it, there’s room for everything.

But most importantly I don’t really care, as long as someone out there is putting these old aeroplanes back in the sky were I can see them and admire them. We in this part of the world take far to much for granted, we should be grateful for what we have rather than knocking people who take there hard earned cash and spend it on something we can enjoy. If you cant afford the plane you like, get out of your armchair and find someone who has one and go along and volunteer, get involved – live you’re life around the plane it will soon fell like it’s yours without all the finacial worries of actually owning it.

I like planes for the way they look and the noises and smells they make.

If I remeber correctly the colours relate to the aircraft being used during the war to fly from northern Scotland to the Orkneys, Stornoway and Shetland.

But it’s still cold enough to freeze the dangly bits off a brass monkey.

Not so interesting fact this, but that saying come’s from back in yaw when we still had cannon’s on ships. The cannon balls would be stacked up on a brass tray called a ‘brass monkey’. Obviously there was a lot of moisture around and when it got cold the moisture on the balls turned to ice and hay-presto the balls would fall of.

So if anyone complains at you for being crude when you say that you can put them right.

Argosy is C1 – XN817 , Phantom is FGR2 – XT852, both were still there at the beginning of the year according to Wrecks and Relics.

I would love to get involved with Delta Jets, but living in Newmarket it’s a bit far away. I’m a big fan of Delta Jets and everything they do and Kemble is always the best airshow of the year. Keep up the good work and it’s great to have you onboard Andy.

Don’t Panasonic and JVC come from the same company?

NO – They have the same parent company but have different products.

In my opinion ( keep the lawyers happy ), JVC have brought in technology in the past. A few years ago JVC were buying in tubes from a maker who’s name begins with ‘P’ and ain’t Panasonic, these TV’s are starting to fail in quiet large numbers after about 4 / 5 years – allegedly ( blimey this is like Have I Got News For You ! ).

Are they not owned by Martin Baker and flown on the military register? Same as those eggbeaters and training aircraft that are under contract to the RAF?

    I’ll say Panasonic and probably because I’ve had a few beer’s! πŸ˜€

Me and the engineers at the company I work for will only buy Panasonic.

In the last few years they have only had one duff video everything else is top notch having said that if your thinking of buying a video ONLY consider Panasonic.

Panasonic make all there own stuff and don’t to my best knowledge supply anybody else.

I’m going to bed know as I am very drunk – hic!

Being in the trade as well, I can only echo DGH. We too give a free 5 year warrantee with all our tv’s. Including plasma and lcd. We to only sell good stuff, it makes sense in the long run to buy a top make if you can, don’t go to the Big Boys go and see your local independent dealer more often than not he will be able to compete on price and the after sales service will knock spots off the multiples.

Many of the ‘sheds’ sell products at cost price and then make all there money on the extended warranties and ripping you of for the leads!

We only sell good stuff, so we give a free 5 year guarantee with our TV’s.

The moral of the story is don’t buy cheap rubbish, get something thats gunna last. Although that is difficult in our field these days as our market is lead by price rather than quality so there are very few good products made know.

My old XJ6 has the XK unit up front and makes all the right noises as her exhaust’s blowing a bit!!! I’m not really wanting to fix it as it sounds too good.

    Regards
    Rich

I had a 1600E Mk2 Cortina a couple of years back with a knackered exhaust that sounded better than any car I’ve ever heard – Didn’t drive as nice as my Mk1 Cortina though.
