Always fancied a Mk3 3.0S in silver so I could drive around pretending to be Bodie from The Proffesionals ( Sad arn’t I 😀 ).

Glad to hear the pilot is ok. I’ve read many times that pilots would always land a gearless Vampire as it belly lands so well – point proven I think!

I’ve never seen one with a yellow flash, but the first Team Lotus cars had a yellow pin stripe down the centre of the green stripe with Team Lotus written on the doors.

He must have had some fun with that! 😀 😀 😀

Eddie has hit the nail on the head with what the problem is with wooden aircraft. As for needing a DA from Bae, I only really know about jets but from what I understand the CAA have at least consulted with Bae over the prospect of a civil mosquito and that was there answer. As for whether or not you believe me I care not either way. 🙂

I think ‘JJ’ fills an important role as it is. PA474 does the flying stuff, NX611 the upclose and personnel stuff. It also nice to know that if heaven forbid anything happened to PA474 there is an aircraft in the background that could ( all parties and money willing ) be brought in to replace it.

On the subject of Bae and there support of historical aircraft I think it has already been stated that they do far more than they have to. It has to be remembered that they are here to make a profit and are one of the largest employers in the country. Try telling a family in Lancashire that they will be out of work because there employer is being sued for taking a frivolous attitude to letting some cranks fly an old plane at the weekend and see what the reply is! I don’t think I would be to keen on signing the paperwork to let a Lightning fly in this country ( and there my favourite planes ) or saying a Shack is ok to fly when all the mainspars are passed there sellbye date. It also takes a brave company to come out and say that they won’t support a Mosquito because they dont understand wooden aeroplanes anymore.

I think the situation with the Mossie could be overcome if there is a company out there that can prove to Bae that they have all the neccesary experiance and know how. The Shack like-wise if someone has the technology and money to prove that the spars are still safe. The Lightning, thats a different kettle of fish I don’t see how that would ever be overcome unless it was restricted to one airfield near water.

Know Warton is on the coast…… 😉

    NO! NO! NO!
we could park it out across the airfield at Duxford and get the newly restored ME109 over from Germany and shoot it up with live ammunition in a real live re-run of operation Bodenplatte.
This of course wouldn’t be authentic enough for some, unless the P-38 was painted up as one from the 367th FG.
    I suggest ‘Hey Stuff’.

    Mike, whatdo you think?
    Andy.

No, even better – why not bury it under a huge Ice-Berg and see who can get to it first!

    Video’s – Can’t give’em away! DVD Recorders – selling very well thankyou! 😀

On some DVD recorders you can do all your editing on the disc,by removing parts you dont like and then rearranging the order in which frames are played. Improving the picture – you’ll need a computer for that. 🙂

Those incidents mentioned where American jets went and displayed at the wrong airfield are amusing (and makes you think about how many wrong towns they’d bomb in combat due to similar navigational errors!) but I was thinking, it is a very dangerous situation for the aerodrome that they are wrongly displaying at. If the pilot thinks he’s over Duxford and radios accordingly, Cambridge’s air traffic isn’t going to expect a jet swooping down through its circuit. They’re damed lucky there have not been any air to air accidents.

The boyfriend of a girl I was sharing a house with a few years ago was working in ATC at Cambridge the day of the unscheduled display – he claimed that Cambridge held a record for the most number of near misses filed in one day. Apparently the circuit was full. 😮

No idea if this is true or not but he wasn’t known to lie.

DVD players can be funny old things, I sold one to a friend once and after a while everytime she used it the disc stopped working after about an hour. We took it into the workshops and it worked fine, put it back in her house the fault repeated itself, put it back in the workshop it worked fine and so this went on. We did a deal and now she has a nice one that plays all the time – and the one she had? A member of staff has it and it has never missed a beat. Be careful if your multi-regioning as it invalidates the manafactures warranty although if it’s on a £30 cheepy you can always get another one when it goes wrong.
