Formation tugging at Legends? 😀
(on a slightly more serious note, what make and type are these tugs?)
Nice to see the Meteor T.7 over my house at 15:15hrs today en route Duxford Show to Coventry. my neighbour thought it was a Canberra. Were Dan and Doddy on board ? Incidentally my father trained on Meteors at 203 AFS Driffield circa 1950 but never flew this particular one.
Dan and Pat
Lovely video. Where was it filmed ?
As Tangmere says, it was filmed out of Duxford with most of the aerial footage being shot with the aircraft flying circles around Comberton, Hardwick and Barton. I was lucky enough to be spending my lunch hour in a layby between Hardwick and Comberton and had the pleasure of watching them going around and around and around – its a hard life sometimes…….:D
The aircraft in Mark12’s photo is XF386 a groundbound BDRT airframe at Coltishall which ended it’s days as DD says at Otterburn Ranges. For a picture of her just before scrap scroll down the following page
Any chance of a flyby at Gloucester en route? The Jet Age Museum’s E28, Meteor and Javelin are parked outside and would look fantastic with a T7 overhead.
Today’s priorities will be the completion of the air test, fuel and getting the pilot to Coventry in plenty of time to be able to fulfill his display commitments in Belgium. Something for another day.
Cough, cough, bump…….:)
Who was the french chap who flew in with the Curtis Hawk on Thursday? I ended up having lunch with him but his accent was quite strong and I didn’t catch his name properly.
Patrice Marchasson, thank you. Thought he said his name was Patrice and he had a long name beginiing ma on his flight suit. Must pay more attention next time!
Thanks Pete1

A few hours after coming out of the box. 🙂
Hello Laurence,
I contacted Rod Brown and managed to provided Florian Sterchi of the group with the full history of the aircraft back in March so if you have a word with them you should be able to get all the details you need if not send me an email. 🙂
DGH,
You are spot on, that is how it was.
God, don’t people over dramatise things when a small bit of info is only available Rather than wait for a proper on the spot report from someone who was there ( I was not but have spoken to leading members who were. )
Why not elaborate on the positive things from the flight of our Meteor T7.

Couldn’t agree more, top work by all the team who have worked on her over the years. 😎
problems reported were, left gear not coming down, low fuel and left engine was shut down
I was of the understanding that there was not a green showing for the left gear so confirmation was required from the ground that the gear was indeed down, this led to extra time in the air, which led to the low fuel situation, which led to one of the engines being shut down in order to save fuel. Hope that helps.
…just watched the display from my bedroom window, and she has passed back over heading to for Duxford……
Who’s going to be first to call in from Duxford!! 😀
