JF-17 is fitted with MAWS for all directional missile warning. Not sure if F-18E has MAWS?

UV band MAWS sensors are visible below the tail and above the engine nozzle.

In terms of size JF-17 is essentially a single engine version of F-18A/C, and so is more nimble and could likely come on top in WVR engagement with F-18E. Due to smaller size and DSI, JF-17’s frontal RCS is much smaller than F-18E and so even though F-18E has a bigger radar, the two should be comparable in BVR engagement. F-18E Block 2 has AESA, something JF-17 is not yet upgraded with. JF-17’s KLJ-7 radar is essentially a smaller version of APG-73 which was fitted in upgraded F-18C and F-18E Block 1. SD-10 and AIM-120C are comparable weapons.

    But you know about it.

    Ok.

Without fresh weapons coming from Russia and Iran all the time, Assad would have run out of weapons and got overthrown within a few months as was the case with Gaddafi in 2011. Assad now has a lot more guns, missiles, bullets than on March 15, 2011 when the uprising began.

    You have proof of this?

    That’s why it’s covert.

    Awww, another gem from David!

If Russia was trying to relive its glory days, it would take an actual active role in helping Assad win.
So far they really have not.

I can see you are frustrated that Amerika is impotent in this scenario though.

Russia covertly sends tens of thousands of guns and missiles and millions of rounds of bullets to Assad’s army. Plus Iran also sends tons of weapons via Iraq.

There’s every chance it would have been solved by now if it weren’t for the meddling Iranians and a certain failed superpower stamping its feet and trying to re-live its past glory days.

Then why doesn’t the USA quit sticking its nose in places where it doesn’t belong?

Don’t know about that, but either way the country is in a defacto state of war, there is no constitution applicable, and it’s not the first time either, even Roosvelt run for a third term. Even if the clashes could end tomorrow morning, so to speak, it would take quite a while until free election could be successfully held.

The Constitution referendum was carried out successfully in late February 2012 when fighting was heaviest. The stalemate of now is not going to change till at least a year from now, thus I don’t see how the presidential election could be affected in early May 2013. The scale of combat is quite small, or the war would have been long over.

    You compare apples with steaks.
Even if tomorrow they back down and allow Assad’s overthrown, it will be because they will have gotten something else in return, either in Syria itself or somewhere else. Has been happening in international diplomacy between superpowers for centuries.

I was under the impression Assad cannot run for a third term under Syria’s new Constitution adopted in February 2012? In any case, I doubt Assad wants to be prez under the current situation. Probably no good night’s sleep over the past 28 months.

Why? There ws no need to consult or even seek approval from Russia for the Iraqi no fly zone that ws implemented in 1991 and remained in place by 2003.

The USSR broke up in 1991. Now Russia is back. Besides, Saddam was a Sunni who was put into power in Iraq by America to take on Shi’ite Iran.

lol. No, it’s a tool for Russia to exploit, just like the former Russian/Soviet client states were. You don’t actually think they give a damn about the people there do you…?

Syria is a Russian satellite just as Hezbollah is an Iranian satellite.

Clearly you are one of the believers that think Russia is going to use military force if the US/NATO or a Coalition set up a unilateral no fly zone? Even a limited one in the North of Syria? Russia is not going to lift a finger to support Assad if push comes to shove.

Yes Russia would. Syria to Russia is Israel to America.

After many years no one can do anything about Syria, a puny country of 22 million people. No one can do anything about Pakistan, a country of nearly 200 million people.

Why didn’t PLA-AF induct JF-17? It must be superb on paper only. 😀

    J-10 is F-16 sized. JF-17 is JAS-39 sized.
