Why doesn’t J-15 have DSI intakes like JF-17 does?
J-15 is identical to J-11B except it’s canarded?
How does J-15 compare to Su-30MKI/MKM?
Neither has even a tenth of the effectiveness of the Rafale, let alone the SH.
The SH is a proven performer that has dropped countless live weapons in combat. It has world class sensors, datalinks and overall integration.
SH’s radar signature is much bigger than Rafale’s, and lacks the speed of the J-15 / Su-33. It performs well against MiG-21s, but I don’t think it can take on Rafale and J-15 / Su-33 on equal terms. An F/A-18C was shot down by a vintage Iraqi MiG-25 which was barely flyable due to sanctions.
J-15 is clearly the deadliest naval jet in the world today, with sophisticated Chinese avionics, very powerful WS-10A engines (on production units), and deadly Chinese PL-12 and YJ-83 missiles.
I’d like to see both the Minsk and the Kiev refurbished and commissioned into PLAN as helicopter and VTOL carriers 😀

J-31 is essentially a twin engined version of F-35, albeit with 2 smaller engines rather than 1 big engine, and is larger in size. Notice that the identically of the two planes is amazing, even down to the air inlets 😮
The length to width ratios of F-35 and J-31, 15.67 meters to 10.7 meters and 16.9 meters to 11.5 meters, respectively, are identical up to the 2nd decimal place, and should be just about the same if the dimensions of the planes are given up to the 2nd decimal place.
Can’t turn and climb as fast as other jets.
I bet to differ. Those big canards make J-20 very nimble 😀
China is no “Second World” country because the vast majority of population still live in incredible poverty, with a handful of rich taking all the money and living like emperors.
China’s rich poor disparity is as good as the US, Mexico, Argentina, some African countries, for instance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_income_equality
Actually, New York state has worse rich poor gap as compared to China. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_Gini_coefficient
Rich poor disparity is increasing all over the world, not just in China 😀
the canopy is huge

Nope. Too big and sluggish for that role. It is a carrier battle group strike platform, and China needs a more nimble jet for close combat.
Big yes, but hardly sluggish.
J-11 is a dual engine heavy fighter.
Even the US cant afford to us F15s as low-end fighters.
J-10 is more likely.
True, but China is not America. In China, the bigger the plane, the more jobs are generated. 😀
After all, J-20 is a high speed interceptor/anti-ship platform and isn’t suitable for dogfights.
J-20’s primary role is air superiority and is armed with the devastating PL-21 / PL-ASR combo, the former being ramjet powered and the latter is a thrust vectoring imaging infrared helmet directed 90 degrees off boresight dogfighting killer.
Then what’s going to replace the PLAAF’s low-end jets? J-20? Chinese jets don’t last long and need to be replaced every 15 years.
By J-11 jets I imagine.
China and Russia are strategic partners. No matter who buys either of J-31 / PAK-FA, the buyer becomes an ally and dependency of both China and Russia. Turkey is an American ally and would not buy Chinese or Russian hardware.
That is 184 active raptors left in service? I can see where this might go. 10-20 years down the road, attrition takes away another half a dozen planes, china/russia field their new planes in hundred or more airframes and LM and Boeing both start claiming: just give us 10 years and 50 billion dollars, we will make you new fighters so advanced you won’t need to worry anymore. then the projected buy of 300 new planes dwindles so 150, price per plane rises by 50% and the whole programme is late 3-5 years.
F-35 is nowhere NEAR ready for production. 2018 is now the earliest date for operation.

Again, the US defense secretary personally visited China to take a look at its maiden flight.
