    Steve (why be formal?)

Speaking to Chris Morris a couple of years ago, he already told me the Gladiator would be next for repainting, therefore I am very surprised that funds were diverted to repaint the Tiger Moth, which was accurately painted in RAF camouflage and I thought in good condition, not needing a repaint. Obviously the collection don’t need funds to repaint aircraft that need it, when they can’t afford to repaint aircraft that don’t!
I am not alone in hating to see our only airworthy Gladiator flying in false Norwegian colours as I know others have written to the Collection about this. Hey, ho, one day…. 😮

I think if you bothered to enquire instead of just making unsubstantiated statements, that the Tiger has had quite a bit more done to it than just a repaint.
    Try a complete rebuild.

It must be frustrating that even the Chinese disregard your advice.

That evidence being a black and white photograph!

You mean you can’t determine an exact Methuen or Pantone reference from a B&W photograph?
Go to the back of the class now!

    Mr. Painter,
Indeed I have contacted Shuttleworth about this and it was me that provided all the reference photos for the Tutor repaint, but they still chose to paint the top decking green despite the evidence that it should be RED! 😡

Perhaps that says more about the regard you’re held in than it does about The Shuttleworth Collection.

, as such inaccuate details could have been avoided with a little research, but obviously there are those that don’t care as long as ‘it looks pretty’!

Who else cares apart from you?

I imagine the people of Bedfordshire will lay abed tonight worrying about this–NOT.

    Andy!

I thought you were married. I didn’t realise you had joined the Village People. 😮

I’m not proud if it meant me getting a new Indian on the road I’d consider it… 😮 😮 😮

After all, tricks like that got a well known Rearwin in the air.

If I really thought that by donating £500 the Vulcan would fly again I’d be quite prepared to raid my ‘rainy day’ fund.
    Moggy

    Mogs old Bean.
I’m off to my favourite Harley dealer tomorrow.
It’s the launch of the 2007 model range.
I know another worthy scheme–Fancy raiding your ‘rainy day’ fund for that.
I’d only need one amount and I promise I’d never ask for more.
    A couple of grand will do… 🙂 😉 🙂

£500 isnt that much to ask eh?

Probably not if youre a captain on Cathay on £160k a year 😡

There are people to whom five hundred quid isn’t a lot.
There are many more who’d be glad to be in receipt of an additional five Hundred.

He’s having a laugh–If anything I thinks it only helps to illustrate the gulf between rich and poor in the country.

I’d suggest that you have another look at Moggy’s posting, forester. :diablo:

I can’t imagine for one single moment that Moggy was writing with any sense of irony.

Surely it would much easier to move in a series of skips–cheaper too as cost must now be something of a consideration I would guess.

There was a moderately well presented piece on Anglia News this lunchtime.
I must say I do feel sorry for the blokes who are about to lose their jobs.
The piece also said that some have already left.
It didn’t say if they’d actually got the chop or had just hoofed it to pastures new.
Hopefully it’s the latter and they’ve been snapped up elsewhere.
Skilled labour being in short supply (hopefully).

No. One Mi-26 can lift 20 tonnes, it is claimed.

The Vulcan basic weight is around 36 tonnes, I believe. Deduct four Olympus engines at 3 tonnes each, remove the fin and the undercarriage and its down to 20 tonnes without even stripping out the hull.
    .

Ok, so you’ve got the Mi-26, you managed to sling the load safely underneath and you’re running up the rotors in preparation for the takeoff.

    Where are you going???

    What destination??

    Why???

    Who’s paying???

How have you dismantled the load???

Pllease answer, I’m dying to know.

But Chinooks have lifted airframes before. No-one disputes this airframe is large. What is questionable is whether stripped of engines, undercarriage, fin, control surfaces, even with electrics and hydraulics in situ, this is a particularly heavy airframe.

Establishing that it _could_ be done would go a long way to help in renegotiating hanger fees if a new team took over the project.

    Air lifted to where???

    You don’t make this clear.

How much is XH558 worth in its current condition?

    Regards,

    Dan

Ali was trading at $2,448.00 per Metric Tonne on the London Metal Exchange yesterday.

But IS the work by Marshalls done at a commercial rate? They have the Trust over a barrel just as the owners of the hanger have.

Please define ‘commercial rate’ for me.
You obviously understand much more about the financing of Public Limited Companies than I do.

    Another one passes
Great book about flying Swordfish from MAC ships and he also flew the Vought-Sikorsky SB2U Chesapeake (Vought Vindicator) during it’s short stay with The Royal navy.
    Worth a read.
