Sorry if I am not diverting my attention to someone who doesn’t care a hoot about Concorde.
Its blatently obvious that as SCG want to return this to a heritage flight that the money will come from the Heritage and National Lottery Grants.
Also – I don’t do conquests where people like to have competitions over knowing more than the other. Very immature and sad!
You people are the sad ones.
You’ll obviously have experts on hand on how to deal with the HLF then, I presume.
In the case of the Vulcan the HLF are going to provide a percentage of the money.
The Vulcan to the skies mob need to raise the rest–and they’re struggling.
You’ll need much more than them and thay had an airframe to start with!!!
You lot haven’t even got that.
I’m so fed up with people like you.
You know absolutley nothing about preservation–you’re clueless about most things and you talk complete cr*p.
Either come up with a proper plan or b*gger off and stop giving aviation preservation a bad name.
Holding a meeting at a pub near Heathrow once a quarter to talk b*llocks certainly won’t get it back in the air.
I’ll tell you what.
I’ll bet you £100.00 now–tonight, that it’ll never fly.
You in for that?–I know make it a thousand and you can set the date on when the bet expires.
Have you got a thousand quid between you?
Andy
Andy, you can’t put a price on hope. If you could, no doubt it’d be taxable.
Are you talking about ITTR 2006 or SCG here?
I think the two projects are at different ends of the charitable spectrum. Personally the raising of the funds for ITTR 2006 by charitable donation is more likely to happen than Concord returning to the air.
At least ITTR 2006 is a viable and realistic project with it’s funding goals listed on day one.
Oh and Speedbird, correct me if I’m wrong but I notice you claim charitable status for SCG.
If you are, I think you’ll find you have to submit your accounts to the Charity Commission, in a similar manner to limited companies submiting their accounts to Companies House.
That should prove interesting.
No guessing as to who this muppet is – it seems to me that BA would never have ran Concorde without the almighty Gordo.
His facts are also appaulingly untrue as well and he has no engineering experience, despite disguising himself in other forums I’ve seen on, contrary to what he says, behind any statement he makes that needs backing up.
Take him with the pinch of salt he deserves….
Unlike your goodself of course.
Maybe they have a core membership of Lesbian, Albanian, Scouser, Fox Hunting, New Labour supports, in which case the National Lottery will rush to their aid.
Ian
As long as it doesn’t get in the way of ‘ITTR 2006’ I don’t give a sh*t what they do.
A.
Yadda, yadda, yadda.
I asked you the same questions in a PM last month, again today you didn’t answer the questions I asked then.
Pour out more bile for all I care, I’m waiting on action.
Oh and incidentally–I bet I know (probably forgotten) more about engineering than you’ll ever know.
Where are you going to get the millions you need?
That’s not an unreasonable question.
Andy
You also obviously don’t qualify to make this statement since you’ve not made yourself known to the group to give any tips / advice. We’ve been doing everything possible to rally support and speak to everyone out there in the Concorde world. Just because its not readily documented does not mean it is dead in the water!
I’d say it was dead in the water.
I still await with interest your organisation’s business plan on how you intend to fund the project.
And no I don’t want the ‘it’s all happening behind the scenes’ bit trotted out, because it isn’t.
And while you’re about it, perhaps you’ll explain how you intend to get Airbus Industries to offer the engineering support you’ll need.
Cheers
Andy
What is the point of talking intelligent, you lot all talk like Shirley Temple anyway.
Maybe if we still had an Aviation industry, a Boat Industry and a Car industry, we would not need to pay as much for the cost of living.
Why should I buy a Friends Of Duxford membership I would never benefit from it. DX is owned by the goverment, they also had a record year on entries to the museum last year. The goverment pockets the money. Wake up.
I think now I’ve heard it all.
Of course I now realise my large pay rise this year from my present employment with Her Majesty’s Government came from the proceeds from museums and not your taxes–as of course does my 30 days paid holiday, my optional 10 additional days for personal/compassionate reasons, my 18 days paid sick, BUPA, and final salary pension.
They’ve also planted an attractive rose garden outside my window.
I find it soothes me as I grapple on serious issues like should I shuffle some more paper before lunch or have Tea (provided free of course).
I think my rose garden was an excellent use of Tax-payers money.
Cetainly better than wasting it on old aircraft.
I never realised the cost of a ticket to Legends helped pay for my comfortable living.
Please everyone–would you find some some additional to people to go to Legends with you? As we need to employ a gardener to keep the Rosemary Harkness pruned correctly.
Love to all.
Andy
Not far from the truth (but I still need a beer), however upon what basis to you call me “round man”?
Well, you are round, then again so am I. 😀 😀 😀
I haven’t enjoyed a thread so much for years.
Whoever Beard is, he’s 100% certifiable.
YOU ACTUALLY TALK FROM WHERE YOUR WASTE GASES EXITS YOUR BODY, YOUR RECTUM, ANUS, VENT WHOLE AND YOUR UP EVERYONE ELSES.
I don’t know what you’re on Rob, but can you let me have the name of your supplier and how much it is per line?
Why is Duxford and it’s little July eisteddfod so important to you?
It’s only an airshow.
I don’t even like air-shows–I certainly try never to pay to get into them.
I think you should chill out, perhaps take up another interest, how about fishing or Philately or brick laying (Winston Churchill did that to relax), anything rather than this, which seems to distress you so.
I’d suggest Cricket but my tickets this year to a one day game at the Oval were £52.00 each and a Friday at Lords for the test was £40.00.
A decent ticket at Saracens these days is £25.00.
You don’t get a lot for your money.
Andy
Rob, me old darlin’,
I never go to Fag-ends as I’m a well known misanthrope with a phobia about Cambridgeshire, who has this very evening been mistaken for your goodself.
Instead of Duxford I sit on the edge of Dunstable Downs watching the gliders and dreaming about the day that the whole shooting match is transferred there from Duxford, the day that Fifi, the CAF B-29 and the long un-airworthy Twin-Mustang and the even longer discussed P-61 Black Widow finally all fly together at the newly reconstituted Dunstable Legends.
Until that magical time arrives, I’ll spend the sixty quid on beer and some of that very nice ‘Moroccan Black’ that the nice man in Bury Park, Luton supplies me with and patiently wait.
Andy.
PS. It also saves having to get up early.
Thanks for posting S.
For anyone who hasn’t been to LFA, I think ‘not to be missed’ is my description.
Duxford really isn’t the centre of the universe.
Andy
Has he really gone?
Does that mean Patty won’t get his engines and propeller and a certain Lewis Gun will never appear at Old Warden?
Good job nobody was holding their breath then wasn’t it? 🙂 😉 🙂
Now you’re starting to look at this realistically. What it all boils down to is that no-one apart from RIAT will be able to afford it, so that’ll £2.5m lottery grant spent for two flights – 1. Bruntingthorpe-Fairford and 2. Bruntingthorpe-Duxford and grounding?
Well that’ll be cost effective!!!
[B]’We really want to keep things moving to our target of first test flight in 2006. However, the VST Trustees have to be prudent and thought it wise to tell you that £350,000 is now a projected shortfall and it is vital to the programme that this money is available in the short term.
Well, that shortfall figure doesn’t seem to change too much.
I don’t know about the rest of you but £350 Grand is a lot of money to me.
There are two major reasons why this money is still required, one is because there is a figure in the budget for sponsorship, which we were assured by professional sponsorship advisors, would be forthcoming. This has not materialised, and has caused the shortfall.
Business doesn’t seem attracted to the project.
I wonder why?
As to the assumption that business will suddenly view the project differently once 558 has flown is rash indeed I would have said.
Big business will want a lot in return for sponsorship–like big exposure and I just can’t see that happening.
I think there’s a way to go before day-light appears under those wheels yet.
