It’s a good point Andy, and from what I know from talking to a number of the mod’s, through one way or another they are as much in dispair over this as we are. It’s makes their job harder if they doen’t all follow the same hymn sheet, and like I say one rotten apple……….

I can think of one mod who steadfastly defended the rotten apple, he has certainly changed his tune in recent weeks.

    Ian,
I’ve had one of them offer his job to me already today.
If it’s that bad, why do they stay doing it?

Andy I would say that on the whole, the moderators are fine. Certainly I can think of two who are a pleasure to know, and converse with. They moderate with thought. Why use a hammer to crack the egg !!!!!.

In general it’s one bad apple that is spoiling the barrel, unfortuantely the lid is on the barrel and the powers to be think it’s better to spray the air around the barrel than to remove the lid and take out the source of the smell.

Sorry Ian, we part company there.
If the moderators really felt strongly about matters they’d act.
By their silence they by default, acknowledge that the behaviour of the bad moderators is OK.

It’s time a few of them made a stand in my opinion. They were quick enough to accept the title, now they need to do the job.

    Silence in no longer acceptable.
You’re either on one side or another in this argument.

If the problem was between two people, then you could say it was a clash of personalities. How many people does it take to join in before it becomes a general consensus of opinion?

    But Ian that’s the point.
This is a form of despotism at work.
Dictators never listen to popular opinion, they just keep tightening the screw in the hope of crushing the opposition.
Of course, history proves they’re all toppled in the end.

Im telling you now ‘Key’ will pull the plug on this place if it starts to become an embarresment…….

    Maybe they should.
I actually think that would be desirable course of action.

The trick with being a moderator is to be moderate – a trick that has escaped here or been deleted

But John, you know it’s human nature.
If you give the otherwise inadequate a small taste of power, it always goes straight to their head.
I bet you’ve seen it in the workplace and especially in the forces.
I once heard it called ‘The Corporal mentality’.
If I was one of the other moderators I’d be inclined to resign at this point to distance myself from the individuals concerned.
Sadly however I feel that they propably all enjoy that little buzz of power that authority seemingly gives them just that bit too much.

    Human nature again.

Yet another thread seems to be missing (ie the one discussing supprise supprise – a missing thread). No discussion? No attempt to talk over the issue.. just a hatchet job. It seems as though there is a war of wills going on here that utimately nobody will win. Really sad.

Look on it as a form of megalomania.
A little bit of authority goes a long way with these people.

    Blue Max.
I certainly didn’t mean to aim a slight at your late Father.
If I caused you offence I’m certainly ready to apologise for that.
The Red Baron film meant no more to me than the sort of thing one dozes through on a Winters Sunday after Roast Beef and a few beers and at the end you think bl**dy rubbish.
As usual there’s much more going on behind the scenes than the punters realise.
Thanks for telling us about it in this case.
    Cheers
    Andy
