for racist read realist – we all know that the vast majority of UK and worldwide muslims condemn and deplored these acts, yet the fact remains that they were muslims rather than any other religion.

Andy – I went through Kings Cross on the night of the fire back in the eighties. By coincidence, so did my wife, who I didnt know at the time. I was 2 minutes too late for the St Pancras train, so walked down the platform to Thameslink, or I would have been on the wooden escalator at around the right time. Chance – Life is made of such things. One must not dwell on them too much – that way madness lies.

I actually haven’t been dwelling on anything much–I’ve been too busy.
However I think a little fear isn’t such a bad thing, I’m not and never will be ready to give into these people but I would prefer a peaceful World.

Having read your post I’m sure everyone will heave a collective sigh of relief at the knowledge that you were so close to being involved but came through unscathed. Am I afraid? Possibly, but I don’t want to admit that even to myself because if I do then it’s another little victory for them. And I don’t want to give them the satisfaction.

Thanks for the thoughtful posting.

Last Thursday morning I returned from a wonderful trip to see Steve Patterson and arrived at Gatwick at about 08.00 and Thameslink put me at Kings Cross at about five to nine.
I rode straight through blissfully unaware of what was happening effectively only a short distance away.
(I was told there had been a power failure but all else was OK).
At 10.00 I got off the train at Luton and was greeted by Vanessa in her car who was waiting for me. Again only yards from the car that was filled with explosives and left by the bombers.
Now, you can say if you want that you ain’t frightened–I bl**dy well am!
I’m scared and angry.

Scared because I realised that it could have been me or a million other people, angry because these people have already succeeded in spreading doubt between communities and among ourselves.
Who among you haven’t wondered about Muslims neighbours or work colleagues this week?–I have and I feel slightly ashamed, but it’s natural isn’t it?
You tell me.

I haven’t got any glib answers about hanging or flogging or even what we should do in the World–I just know I feel sad, disappointed and worried for the future as I can’t see things getting better for the forseeable.

Of course, if anyone thinks I’ll change my lifestyle because of their twisted views they couldn’t be more wrong—Ever met a Brit who isn’t as stubborn as mule?–especially this one?

I think the majority of World War veterans would be amazed that you would be afraid to talk to them.
The two I know (one RAF, one Army) seriously can’t understand what all the fuss is about.
Recently the army one (my Dad) was asked by someone to write down some recollections of events back then.
“What the bl**dy hell would you be interested in that for” was his response.
