I really like German aeroplanes from WW2–The Germans have/had some very competent engineers and produced some excellent machines.
As to our individual/collective views on Germans/NAZIS/The Boche (please delete where applicable in your case) I’m about to ring my ninety year old father to tell him to watch as he’ll be as fascinated as me as to the result (he only fought them for three years).
As to Paul 178–his views are always extreme. Last year he was recommending reporting the Shuttleworth Collection to trading standards because they didn’t fly the Comet.

Or am I now so out of touch with the dynamics of modern society that I’m lost..?
I’ve watched with a sense of mounting distaste in the last days, the ever growing carnival which surrounds the murder of Lee Rigby.
On Sunday it seems to me, that bored Londoners in need of an afternoon out in the Sun, trotted down to Woolwich to be treated to the spectacle of ‘Hells Angels’ parading on their Harley Davidsons (although I doubt the HA were there–just more artistic license from the semi-literate who work for the Daily Mail), various types of reinactors, and no doubt flower sellers turning a healthy buck–all in the name of remembrance.
I was mildly surprised that there wasn’t a conjuror and a steel band to be honest and I was waiting for the Mail reporter to inform me that there was a ‘carnival atmosphere’. What the bl**dy hell happened to private grief in this country–or just plain old fashioned respect–or even just being a private citizen–going about his or her daily business?
It seems to me that the masses need to be entertained somehow or other, and they are now so spoon fed on media sh*te that they are incapable of even beginning to think for themselves.

And last night, on visiting my parents. My 85 year old Mother made the following observation about Le Rigby’s family and that press conference.
And I quote:- “If anything happened to any of you lot, the last place I’d be is on there (meaning the TV) wailing and howling to give them something to write about. I wouldn’t show myself up..!”

And I sometimes wonder where I get it from….

As to the collection, I might suggeast the ‘Shuttleworth Uncovered’ event in September.
It’s becoming a very popular event and seemingly in late September we seem to be getting better weather than in the so called Summer.
The last two years have been blessed with really nice evenings.
By then the ground is also usually hard enough to run some of the Edwardian cars and bikes.
At present it’s a swamp again–although last weekend was OK.

Paul, after last week not agreeing, today I couldn’t agree more.
I once had a stand up row with a woman in a restaurant in Kansas City after she started banging on about English oppression and how put upon the boyoes were (black & tans etc–loads of sh*t etc).

It was just after those two young boys were killed in Warrington, and I lost my rag in a substantial manner. My wife at the time suggested that I was lucky I wasn’t shot or arrested or both. I remember saying quite loudly that I didn’t give a f*ck–and at the time I didn’t.
And as you say, there were plenty of plastic paddies in places like Luton and Kilburn passing the hat.

These two murderers (and they are just common criminals and not political fighters) were well known to the authorities, and I guess by default therefore to the Muslim hierachy at mosques etc. When I see ‘good’ Muslims regularly turning in the bad ones, instead paying a bit of trite lip-service after the event, I’ll start to think you may have a point. But they don’t do they..? They close ranks. There was one on Radio 4 last night, saying that he knew one of them and had noted that he was very extreme and he reported it to the mosque authorities–but nothing..!!
