Heres Southern Cross arriving at Midland.
Thanks for that.
That’s me being a tart in the jump seat.
Cheers
Andy 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
La-5, Ki-100, Firebrand?
Mike,
now you’re getting very silly.
You know we were only told off for silliness just the other day.
You’ll be saying Boeing XF8B-1 next or even Curtiss XF14C-2 😀 😀 😉 😉 😀
A Few More.
Buchon…
and someone asked about the Buchon the other day.
Sadly static only…
A Few More….
These were from the Saturday morning at Midland too.
Thanks, Andy. I guess the puddle underneath is the result of the blown o-ring?
Robbo
The puddle between the main gears is from someone else.
but you can just see hydraulic oil on the ground behind the trailing edge of the port wing.
Cheers
Andy
There aren’t any photos of Patty’s chariot – does anyone have any photos of Southern Cross on static, or the great man himself?
Your wish is my command oh Robbo.
Southern Cross at Midland TX on Saturday morning 2nd Oct.
Cold, dark skies, rain. Just like England really.
However it did improve in the afternoon.
Yeah, and sheep might fly…
Things to say to a Welsh Magistrate (No 1)
” I’m sorry your honour, I thought it was my wife wearing a duffle coat”.
😀 😀 😀
…I know that he knows that I know that he does not know that I know.
Mark
Come on Mark.
You really know the truth behind all this.
What have you seen?? I bet you’ve got slides of it in that collection of yours.
You’re just dying to scan them aren’t you?
I’m so pleased that I’m not the only one who has no idea what this thread is now talking about
China–the last great unexplored wilderness for airframes, but we’re not meant to say anything.
Why the T2 at Duxford?
Not another anti TFC forum member.
No, these comments are all in jest and please take them as such.
The TFC are above criticism as far as I’m concerned.
It’s just the T2 is everyones favourite place at DX.
Many Thanks
Andy Jones
Well, let’s face it, the only place one is ever going to get rebuilt is in the States, as no-one over here would take on the task, and that seems to be where this one is headed from the reports. So, in fact R3350s may not be such a bad option, unless they source ex-Bristol Freighter Hercules’ with 4-bladed props. And they may well put jump-seats in, in the same fashion as the Canadian Lanc, in order to generate revenue from selling rides.
Hi Mike
well, the purists will be pouring AVGAS over themselves and lighting it on the grass outside the T2 at Duxford in protest over this one.
Beats a normal barbecue I suppose.
Don’t get too excited, just imagine how long it would take to rebuild a Stirling that’s been sitting outside in the damp Chinese climate for all these years.
Stirling, Bristol Hercules–Oh no we’re back to sleeve valves again.
I suppose they could put four 3350’s into it.
Do you think anyone would notice?
Also I imagine that big square fuselage would take several rows of jump seats.
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Does Melv have a kettle in the Rearwin?
The original plan as I understand it was to have a ‘Teas Made’ fitted, so on cross country flights a brew would appear at each main stage. However, the current drain was such that the engine revs dropped to a point just above stalling speed each time the the ‘ready’ bell rang. This could only be overcome by putting the nose down and therefore spilling the Tea.
Mr Hiscock has now reverted to the Thermos flask Mk.I I believe.
This also gives him a storage facility for Tea by-product on longer flights.
Hope this is of help to someone.
It must be your accent and tan, Andy.
Yes, very funny Robbo but it wasn’t me that got caught for the £22.00.
I also claim my five quid–Steve Patterson is Monty’s Double.
Melv, someone’s on your case.
