    Colin:
‘Oh Maggie, you don’t really expect me to climb into those ludicrous garmets do you?’
    Maggie:
‘Yup, I’ve always wanted to sh*g you while you wear my underwear, I’ve discovered I’ve got a thing about WAAFs, which might be a good thing considering it’s only 1940 and there’s five more years of war and foreign postings still to come.’

    Arado 196.

    Hi Mike
yes, locally I’m told the Arado 196 went to Pennsacola.
I’m not certain of that–any idea??
The ME262 did look good–sadly the lights outside reflected off the glass and spoiled any pictures I took.
    thanks for the info.
    Cheers

Thanks for those kind words, Peter. All I can say is that it was a true pleasure to finally meet you and Nicky, and Allison and I very much enjoyed your company and your friendship. I’m sorry the weather didn’t cooperate more, but the hospitality (and wine) of the Breitling tent at least took some of the sting out.

Let’s not wait a year to get together again. Oh, and thanks again for my hat. Now I have one without flowers.

    Best wishes,

    Steve & Allison

And next week Patty, we arrive.
It’s probably been quite a nice life upto now.
I think it’s a very bad manners of you to go out flying a Ford Trimotor and not to wait in for my call last night! 🙂 🙂 🙂 😉 😉 :).
Get any pictures of this ‘event’?
    Talk later.

    this disease is spreading.
What do you think the link is between warbirds and folk dancing???
    Very scary.
I dread to think where it might spread to next!!!

    MH

Up until now Melvis I was your biggest fan.
    What have I ever done??–not jealous are you??? 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
I’m not too far away to be watching you Hiscock!!!!!
I’m amazed at how far advanced they are here since we allowed then their freedom. They’ve got computers (Oh sorry that’s Compoooters) and cars and last night I found a supply of Fullers London pride–so being a man of simple taste I’m happy.
Today, shortly I’m going out to have a look at the USS New Jersey and USS Olympia.
    Good ‘ere innit???
    Chheers Andy

Andy, we will talk about you when you are gone.

There is only one thing worse than being talked about, that’s not being talked about! 😉 😉 😉 🙂 🙂

Ps How’s the Rearwim–flown it yet?

I think Sir Charles Kingsford Smith owned a Lockheed Vega at one stage didn’t he? Or am I thinking of another pioneer?

    Hi Dave
I don’t think Kingsford Smith had a Vega. However the Australian Arctic explorer Sir Hubert Wilkins had two.
C/no 4 which was sponsored by the Detroit News and C/No 17 which was acquired somewhat later.
    Hope this helps.

    Texas….

It appears that all those trips to Texas Steve was making during the Summer weren’t all to do with Sea Fury maintenance:-

There are Texan Morris Men!!!!–Is this where he learned the noble craft??

    Devious ain’t he??
Also we haven’t heard from Mr Hairless Joe our American correspondent lately. I wonder if he’s got any further news.
    Best as ever

Thanks for posting and I too will look forward to the eventual thread on the forum.
Could you/would you eventually be persuaded to release some of your stuff on a disc?
I’d love to view it at my leisure.

    Rearwinned
(EG of usage “He’s a bit Rearwinned”)

This is a mild form of agoraphobia. Symptoms can include the patient locking themselves in a cowshed for three years. 😀 😀 😉 😀

As regards the collective nature – the British forces were an appallingly class ridden institution, and the management and awards reflected that. There were a few awards of VCs for consistant repeated valour – Was Gibson’s one?

And then James there was the interesting case of the VC Billy Bishop ‘won’.
and the Camel pilot on the Italian front too.
Corroboration is obviously a substance that warrants careful handling!!!

    Cheers
