Thanks for the update Argo.
This thread is in dire need of most recent photos of those migs. I hope we can see some soon.
yeah, I forgot to list the business perspective.
What is there to comment on? It is an entirely unremarkable development. Unless you happen to be an American, Israeli or Saudi-funded lunatic who wants to wage a war of aggression in violation of international law, that is.
I can only agree that there is not much to comment until we see what actually happens. Otherwise, it is probably THE most remarkable event in recent times considering S-300 is THE biggest conventional political and military chess piece a country can acquire. Specially a country that Global powers are very sensitive about, plus Israel wants to preemptively bomb. in any case it is a game changing move.
I doubt that confirmation of Iran receiving 6-12 Su-35s would be even close to significant as an asset chess piece than 5 regiments of S-300!
As you said, there are lunatics eager to wage war, and find defensive missiles to be very offensive ;-], and thats exactly why this was globally a breaking news.
Russia’s S-300 missile systems’ supplies to Iran may begin any moment — Putin’s spokesman
This is quite a radical move by Russians. Also, it can cause preemptive reaction from Israel if the systems cross into Iranian territory!! And then what?
I’m surprised no one is commenting on this story..
Well, this is sort of BIG news!

What is your take on this?
I feel like Putin is playing an aggressive ball to trip the footing Obama has on signing Iran nuclear deal. Also, obviously he wants to get Israel and US to yet again offer him “goodies” in return for reversing this decision.
If in fact delivery happens, and happens soon in serious numbers, I am afraid Israel will strike Iran on their own, and there will be the worst thing we have seen yet happen to Middle east.
Things will even considerably change in 5-10 years or so as China and Russia are picking up the paste, and considerably so!
Simply put, Its all going to depend on what and how many China and Russia decides to go for.
Thinks about it, if the Soviet Union did not collapse, there would be at least 500 F-22s now with major upgrades already in place. Current F-22 is a shadow of what it was meant to be. Why, because there would be hunderds of Su-35/37s out there, and possibly thousands including Chinese AF licence builts, plus Soviet 5th generation fighter well in service by now.
So things are changing now fast enough (almost) again, right?!
on a slightly different angle..
I also am thinking that stealth as we know it might seize to exist as a dependable protection for an aircraft in the next 10 years, 15 TOPS! What happens then? !
The reality of F22 becoming absolete as an old dog, while new Pak-Fa ends up being much more adaptable and suitable to modern warfare. F-35 becoming insufficient while expensive and demanding in obsolete way to maintain, makes me think that future modernization and overhauls of F-16, F15s, and Superhornets might extend their life quite a bit past 2025.
More Likely a 6th generation fighter bomber will be an answer to both issues sooner than we think, and with a faster prototype to actual service entry time than what we’ve seen in the past 25 years! This timing could be the winning bid!
No offense taken.
As I said before, these threads are copies of the e-mails that I contribute to the Attritions feature in the Air Forces Monthly mag published by Key Publishing.
Yes, you did, but that does not answer my question. Why do we need to have these copies on this forum??? Can you imagine if others did this for all different airforces of the world?
This is a forum where people post topics to be discussed, and opinions are to be shared. These are COPIES of reports. Nobody is discussing anything, and nobody except you is posting replies, so why do you keep doing this?
again, no disrespect, but you did not explain WHY. This is a discussion forum, not a web page place to list such data, imo.
I still don’t get these threads. Why do we have to see updates on this topic? Has anyone requested it to be like this?
No disrespect, but imagine if we were getting this for every nation’s AF.
2 Turkish Reconnaissance RF-4E Planes Crash; 4 Pilots Killed
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/turkish-reconnaissance-planes-crash-pilots-killed-29193948
RIP
I can’t tell you how many times I looked at your designs here and thought, topspeed is crazy, or blind, or both. Or pulling our leg, and having waay too much fun on the computer. Than look at it again and see a really interesting bird. More interesting than crazy.
I doubt propeller craft can ever go over the speed of sound even with rocket boosters, and I doubt that Mini Kite could ever even take off with 5 Aim-120 missiles plus 12 bombs. Or that that AESA radar and necessary avionics /cockpit instrumentation can actually fit in the front/nose.
On the other hand, I have to admit I love the design, and without some of above exaggerations, and with some increase in actual potential, it would be an amazing small fighter.
I would love to see it fly.
I am very happy with the thrust numbers I got with 2 x 6 blade fans.
I get often mumbojumbo about the kamikaze nature of my designs.
You can see for yourself. :highly_amused:
Thrust calculator actually counts the top speed at 887 mph ( 1427 km/h ) tips at 307 m/s ( using 900 hp @ rpm 4527 ) !
There isn’t much thrust ( 1.8 kN ) but it sounds interesting ( better watch out at the test flite conditions ). Vne has to be near Mach 1.5 ( below 30 000 ft ).
I admire your creativity and persistence, but…
Do you not see with your eyes, but only through calculations that would most likely not deliver in practice. This is just my opinion and it is purely based only on drawings you are posting. I can be dead wrong.
Somehow, all of them look like the plane as creative and interesting it is, they are all 15-30% too small to say the least.
I accept your side views where there is NOOO space for radar or any cockpit electronics whatsoever. A small watermelon could fit in front of those pilots feet right in the very tip of the nose of the plane, that’s about it.
Also, 4 AIM-120s carried by a plane those small wings?? I love the idea, don’t get me wrong, but it looks so wrong when it comes to wing area/weight/size/internal volume, and I have pretty good sense for forces and mechanics.
Even if the trust was sufficient, the wing area and size of the body would not fly well with such armament. Aerodynamics of the plane would be destroyed as soon as those missiles are attached to the body. Just imagine how much the whole plane would suffer if one of the four AIM-120s was launched only due to weight distribution within such small craft.
Pilot would not want to fly for more than few minutes in this cockpit either.
sorry to be negative. Like I said, I love the design, and I always check in here to see what new you come up with with pleasure, but plane is shrunk too much.
best regards
They know exactly how it crashed, yet no one is making an official statement of a cause. I have feeling that Jordan is talking a lot with ISIS since this incident.
I don’t believe at all that it was shot down. If it was, the face that did it would be advertised by ISIS as a hero as well as threats that more will be shot down soon.
Instead ISIS is likely threatening Jordan with public beheading of the pilot if they announce that the plane crashed due to technical problem, which means that game has not changed, and ISIS does not have such air defense capability.
Also, if they shot it down with a missile, they would have publicly beheaded the pilot right away to make a statement, and put REAL fear into every coalition pilot’s head from now on.

According to The Aviationist:
F-16….
could the pilot have gotten too eager and went low enough for SA-16 or even SA-24 to hit it??
SAPIR is an ADD-ON systems to PAWS and is not flying on Israeli F-15/16s (that I have seen) and is tailored for the short-ranged helicopter environment, not the longer ranges that a jet fighter has to deal with.

In other words, it’s a separate systems of sensors or possibly an addon to process MAWS data.
I read main points of this article quoted on CNN page. Havent seen the video yet. What do you guys think about critique? Is there a good link to judge?
Chinese journos queue up to inspect Su-35S’ build quality @ Zhuhai:
I have to agree this time as far as how smooth front end of the plane’s “skin” is. Specially around air refueling pipe. I think i’ve seen smoother panel joints on some Su-30s in the past.
If you look at the close-up photos, and same thing from distance, it is pretty clear that rivets are bending the panels way too much creating extra dents and ribs. Too much rivet force?
Not sure if those are called rivets in this day and age application, but certainly they look like cheap rivet job.
