We have some friends in the Indian community in NW London. Mercedes is definitely the vehicle of choice for demonstrating financial success in that group.
Moggy
Indeed, a Nigerian friend of ours has three !!. Two saloons and a 4 x 4.
I had some work done on my Berlingo van at the weekend, by a friend who works for a local Merc Dealership.
It’s amazing how many new cars they sell, especially the top end models. Very often for cash.
He said they had one customer who bought two of the top end sports models, and has put them straight into storage.
Even the Smart cars sell well. They just cant get enough from the manufacturers.
Why should the demise of the Tax Disc, create a demand for payments ?
I think it’s more of a Status thing nowadays, rather than Class
I’ve worked in a lot of houses where the owners have more money than they know what to do with.
Big houses, flashy cars etc. I can honestly say that I have never felt envious. As for many of them,
their lives revolve around the accumulation of money.
Unless it means more people are now paying online, causing a crash.
Personally, I’ve been paying online for a few years now.
I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve seen it.
……….Speaking as a near life long atheist some of my greatest pleasures in life are to be found amongst the wealth of music, art, literature and architecture inspired and created by believers.
Although, saying that (and I don’t know if this has been posted before), many famous people are (or were) declared Atheists.
Van Gogh, Monet etc.
Nice pictures.
I’ve not been on the Waverley, but we we did the trip on the Balmoral a few years ago.
It’s a whole different experience seeing London from the Thames. We went to and from Southend pier, which was
a four hour trip each way.
Looking at your pictures, the boat looks packed to capacity, very much as ours was.
Polling results extrapolated to general elections are notoriously inaccurate.
Yes, that has been proved time and time again.
There’s no doubt though, that both Labour and Conservative have been put on the back foot, as regards UKIP.
It’s not so much that people want to see UKIP in power (which is extremely unlikely to happen), it’s just as someone said on
the TV the other day, “I’m sick of the Eton/Harrow fraternity, running the country for their own benefit”
As I said before, the government and the BBC will be pulling out all the stops between now and next May, to rubbish
UKIP in every conceivable way.
This week’s Panorama programme was a pretty clumsy and obvious attempt at doing just that.
They still fail to appreciate that the general public are quite capable of making up their own minds.
Regarding the Panorama programme this week. The BBC still don’t seem get it.
Surely they and the rest of the media realize by now, that every attempt to rubbish Farage and UKIP,
secures more votes for his party.
Heaven only know what else they will dream up before next month’s by-election ?
Didn’t realize he was still alive .
So how much is it going to cost the taxpayer to integrate him back into “society” ?
Just to add.
From our experience this year, it’s worth taking out insurance for your feline friend. People will say don’t bother, but ours
has cost just over £3,000 in vets fees this year.
There is a conspiracy theory that says Cameron planned today’s outburst to make it look as though he is
serious about getting concessions from the EU.
As it seems his advisor’s knew about this tax demand a week or two ago.
The signature those of us who signed under intelligence and telecommunications criteria decades ago was long ago irrelevant.
Not if you talked to the person I mentioned in my original post. 🙂
