Great set of photos !
As has been mentioned previously, once XH558 stops flying, all the florid tributes will end, all the “we love the delta lady” claptrap will fade into history, and XH558 will become just one of the dwindling number of surviving Vulcans. It will attract no interest at Finningley – why would it? Anyone who wants to see a Vulcan would be far more likely to go to an aviation Museum (Newark for example) where they can see a Vulcan that wears an operational paint scheme, and where they can see lots of other aircraft too. Who would want to drive to Doncaster to see just one aeroplane?
Unfortunately, I think you are quite right. Fantastic to see in the air, and we owe a big thank-you to those who have kept it there for so long. Once it’s no longer flying, or even doing fast taxi runs, interest will quickly fade.
What is the definition of an Airliner ?
Is it an aircraft carrying fare paying passengers, or does it go by size,
or other parameters ?
Still flying as an airliner ?
Thanks. I take it there’s a public viewing area ? I’ve no idea of the layout.
I’ve seen parts of that programme at least three times already!
Yes it is one of those stations that you can go away from for a few weeks, and not miss anything.
Fortunately I haven’t watched it for a couple of months.
Did you consider a fibre glass finish over the wood ?
It’s a long time since I last visited N.Weald. Probably a fly-in, back in the 90’s
What access is there for the general public, and is there anywhere to get refreshments etc.
Other than being a member of the Squadron.
Today (23rd) at 4:30pm…………Fast Jets and Long Lenses.
Showing the photographers who brave the elements at Cad West
No doubt like most of their output, it will be repeated.
Looking at the lovely picture of the Red Arrows and Vulcan in formation
The Red Arrows flying in formation with other combinations of aircraft would no doubt draw the crowds in.
Nice photo opportunities too.
I hope they can do this at other displays, if they can get the timing right.
Lovely picture. What a shame this couldn’t have happened when XH558 was doing it’s countrywide tour recently.
Just think of the huge crowds that would have attracted.
Impressive display !!
Marvellous pictures !
Have a good one, hope you are making good use of the bus pass ? 🙂
