    Glass half empty, Alan……?;)

    You could say that 🙂

It’s not unusual for the bridge to be shut, or for one of the tunnels to be closed.

We got caught coming back from the Eastbourne Airshow, when the bridge was shut for maintenance.
When crossing into kent, the tool booths had the effect of slowing the traffic down which made it easier to
get into the correct lane once through.

I’ll have to look to see if there’s a webcam.

Farage and Brand on next week’s Question Time programme. I can think of few events more predictable!! I wonder what those who watch it will learn from the encounter……:(

I predict that the whole show will be aimed at trying to bring Farage down. In much the same vein as when they
    had Nick Griffin on there.
That backfired on the BBC. As the only thing it achieved, was in making David Dimbleby look a complete idiot.

    I hope I am wrong

“…..UKIP leader Nigel Farage has said women should not breastfeed in public in an “openly ostentatious” way because
“some people feel very embarrassed by it”…….”

I completely agree with him on this one, and going by those who phoned LBC on the subject yesterday, so do a lot of
other people. Including a number of women.

I’ve seen women breastfeeding in cafes and restaurants, and for the most part, they have done it in a discreet way.
Trouble is, you also get the attention seeking “earth mothers” who want to make a big show of it.
Then when they politely asked to cover up, go bleating to the newspapers.

Still what the heck, it’s another chance to have a go at Farage. 🙂

Alan, there is no doubt that breast is best. .

I don’t wish to labour the point, but ……………..

It would seem that not everyone agrees with you :http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1022083/No-breast-ISNT-best-baby–extremists-tell-you.html

………..If we are to encourage more breastfeeding, which is by far and away the best solution for every child, we must get over this ridiculous embarrassment, which is not, incidentally shared in every country………….

You cannot tell people not to be embarrassed.
I think there are those with more knowledge on this subject, who will tell you that breastfeeding is not the best thing
    for every child, or mother.

I shall think of Bruce the next time I’m in a public place, feel like a whizzer, and get Percy out, rather than going behind a convenient tree and then get my collar felt.

Why not ?, it’s a perfectly natural function. I’m sure nobody would complain 🙂

As far as what they do or don’t do in Scandinavia, I fail to see the relevance.

Anyway, they drive on the left

With regard to Nigel – as we have said on many occasions; no-one including your good self actually knows what he stands for. That makes him dangerous in my eyes. Several million people all voting for their version of UKIP doctrine, without actually knowing chapter and verse what it stands for. He is a fool in that he underestimates that, and I ascribe my remarks only to him.

Isn’t that also true of the other parties. How often do they deliver what they promise in their manifestos ?

I still say that Labour would have won the last election if they had ditched Gordon Brown.

I want to see Farage debating the economy and fiscal policy. Until he does we will learn nothing about his competence in what he aspires to be.

Fair comment, but I wonder how many other prospective candidates or sitting MPs could hold such a debate ?
I expect he will be asked these questions as the General Election draws closer.

Do you who endured the programme share the general criticism of the audience and its participation? .

In what way ? I think there were those who didn’t like being preached to, and weren’t afraid to speak out.
I don’t very often watch the programme myself now, and only watched this one because of who was on the panel.

As others have said. How much longer can the BBC pretend that the panel don’t know the questions that are going to
    be put to them ?

The BBC also seem to have a love affair with Russell Brand, I wonder why ?

There is so much I would like to say on this subject, but I’m sure it would attract numerous posts from people who
suffer from genuine ailments. As well as taking the tread way off course.

I would in one stroke ban all store provided plastic shopping bags… you would have to bring your own or purchase a reusable one at about 50P each…

    .

I was under the impression that they were bringing out legislation to this effect, earlier this year.
So far the only place other than Lidl or Aldi (who already charge) I have found who charge for bags, seems to be B&Q.

So you, in your professional medical opinion, consider eating disorders to be fictitious?

    Did I say that ?

If that”s that appalling programme about real life viewers watching television and commenting then that just about sums up all we need to know about Farage!!

Gogglebox may not be exactly cutting edge television, but it is one of the very few TV programmes that get me laughing.
It’s a bit of escapism, as we don’t watch any of the unreality/talentless/soap output.
My wife never misses The Archers though 🙂
