Great pictures, looks like everyone had a great time.

I believe BBC’s Look East has a feature on the show, Tuesday evening.

A very moving story, thanks for posting.
This aircraft seems to have affected the lives of so many people in Canada, in one way or another.

This link may work better ? http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2014/08/23/avro_lancaster_bomber_makes_sentimental_journey_to_uk.html

I didn’t go back to the airport to see them go off. We went to Hadleigh Castle instead. Too high to get any decent pictures,
but it was nice to get a final look at the two of them together, as they flew off across the Thames.

What software do you use to process your RAW images. ?

Just noticed- there’s no sealing tape over the join between the cockpit/forward nose?

    Should there be ?

    P.S.

I see what you mean. Maybe the BBMF aircrew were getting wet feet ? 🙂

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t there a huge overeaction four years ago at the time of the last Icelandic volcanic eruption?

There certainly was. I got fed up with hearing about the BA 747 incident, from “experts” on the TV news bulletins.

These are a few I took early this morning.
JPEGs virtually straight from the camera.

Thanks for that. I know exactly where you mean. Will have to make sure I get there early today and hopefully find a space.

I shall be wearing my Lancater 2014 Tour baseball cap 🙂

We’ve been lucky enough to have PA474 in our skies for many decades, and she makes a lot of appearances every year. There’s an element that takes her for granted, and it strikes me that with the CWH machine in tow and everyone currently looking anew, some people would do well now to remember just how bloody lucky we are to have an airworthy Lancaster.

I find it sad that so many people I talk to, just give me a blank stare when I talk about seeing the two Lancasters.
Including those of an age who would remember them first time around.

It’s the new road that was built when they extended the runway.
If you go from Tesco towards Eastwood, then turn right at the new roundabout. there are a couple of laybys, but they are nearly always in use.

Maybe if ‘Vera’ and ‘Thumper’ are left alone in a hangar, we’ll soon hear the gentle hum of baby Merlins :p

    If only 🙂

I wasn’t the only one to think of taking pictures from the end of 06 today. The grass verges were packed with cars,
over half an hour before they took off. Most waiting until they returned from Clacton
When they landed, PA474 came right to the end of the runway in front of us. Unfortunately the CWH Lancaster
turned off well before the end. Still I got some more decent pictures. I was supposed to be going out all day tomorrow,
but I just have to see our Canadian friend, just one last time. When they leave at 13:00.

    From today.

With all of the attention rightly going to the CWH Lancaster at the moment, I do hope the air and ground crew of PA474
aren’t feeling a bit like Cinderella. I’m sure they understand.
