She has lots of what many of the other acts lack………..Talent
I think we shall be making our first visit to Elvington today.
We are off to stay with wife’s niece in York, so will set of a couple of hours earlier than planned.
Will give my impressions when we get back.
Well we got to the YAM at Elvington on Thursday afternoon, our first visit. Well worth a look, and I had no idea of it’s history.
We only had a couple of hours, and would have liked to have spent more time there, but they were waiting to close up.
Lot’s to see, with plenty of aircraft on display outside. Some looking a bit sorry for themselves unfortunately. That is just an
observation, not a criticism. Any museum staffed largely be volunteers, can only do so much.
Couldn’t get to see the Halifax unfortunately as it was parked at the back of the hangar, and they were busy clearing away
after some sort of exhibition laid on for students and school kids. No doubt connected with armed forces week ?
Nice museum with some good displays, so must get back for a longer look. It’s very handy though, only being 10mins away
from my wife’s niece.
I received a reply from IWM Duxford regarding those who set up windbreaks on the flightline.
Thank you for your email below concerning windbreaks at air shows.
The use of windbreaks and visitors creating their own compounds is an issue that will not go away. We banned the use of these items some years ago and air show staff were verbally abused by numerous visitors when trying to enforce the policy. We now ensure that the airfield and emergency gates are kept clear and continue to monitor unacceptable activity by a very small minority.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to give IWM Duxford this feedback.
So it would seem that you can do what you like ?, and if anyone says otherwise, throw some abuse in their direction
and you get away with it.
Also a problem with distracting drivers on MII.
Thanks for heads up.
Has it been identified yet ?

Seems so, unfortunately – at the D-Day show large chunks of the crowd-line were taken up by windbreaks driven into the ground with folk staking out large areas to deny others from encroaching. In some cases the area involved was massive considering the number of folk within – very selfish behaviour.
I have emailed Duxford about this, it will be interesting to see what they say. (if anything)
Shocking I agree, but the only way to avoid it in reality is to get on a plane, get there, find out who’s selling it, get your cheque book out, pay for it, organise transport home, pay for that, go home, wait for six weeks for it to arrive at Felixstowe [ or wherever ] organise transport from the docks, find somewhere to put it.
Then you’ve saved it, How is your bank account to do this lot?
Which is what it really boils down to….. Money.
Sometimes even aircraft are best put out of their misery.
Certainly a big lump.
It makes you wonder how anything could get off the ground with one or more of those bolted on the front.
Any idea what it weighs ?
Quite a long press conference from Australia, on CNN this morning.
Detailing the next phase of the search operation.
Maybe, maybe not – but when someone posts a thread about a subject only to be told that it is on a thread about Duxford and also on a thread about flights in Spitfires when the incident concerned was not at Duxford nor in a Spitfire… Some should chill a little. Heyho.
One of the problems is, people starting a thread where the title bears little little or no relationship to the subject matter.
Do they still allow people to set up picnic camps on the flightline, deck chairs, blankets, windbreaks etc ?
How about the use of stepladders ?
Interesting programme on Ch4 last night, about match fixing.
Interesting story in the news about Harry Redknapp. Claiming that Tottenham players asked to be excused England duties.

Why don’t I find this surprising ?
I’m a little confused by the various posts.
Is this actually going to happen next month or not ?
