…..>>….It is more likely described as some sort of mutual arms club where the members are able to train with each other in different climates and swagger around pretending to be the worlds policemen; but when one member has troubles (coff, hack, snort, Falklands) the barriers go up and you are left to sort it out yourself….

Quite, the member countries do seem to pick and choose when they want to get involved.
Is NATO a luxury we can still afford ? After all, if we want to play at being the world’s policeman, there is still the UN Peace Keeping force. So there will always be somewhere our politicians can send our servicemen to die, in the cause of freedom.

NATO has been described by some elements in Russia as : “..The military wing of the major transnational monopolies…”

I wonder how many got the chop ?

I also assume that they were completely stripped out, including seats etc ?

My understanding is that cell phone calls can be made via satellite on a/c that are enabled for that purpose.

Not something I am familiar with, but I doubt that facility is automatically available ? Satellite calls on the Iridium network are very expensive.
So I imagine you would have to use one of the phones supplied by the airline, unless yours can be linked into the satellite system.

Although I doubt UKIP pose any great threat to the main parties, in terms of gaining seats in Parliament.
They could cause upsets in the outcome of seats, where it is a close run thing between the main parties.

You can bet your life that in the run up to the next election, the dirty tricks department will be out to try and
    turn people away from Farage.

I still don’t think we will ever get a chance to vote on our future membership of the European Community.

Just out of interest. I assume the Garmin must be linked into the aircraft systems to give a true airspeed rather than ground speed ?
What other instruments does it give you ?

Reds are heading down to Akrotiri in Cyprus for the next 2 months for their annual work up.

Ah right, I knew they go there every year, but didn’t know when.

All it takes is money, find a UK equivalent of Jerry Yeagan, Paul Allen, Peter Jackson or Kermit Weeks.
The UK has plenty of rich guys, check out the cars at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed or Revival. All you have to do is get one interested in preserving UK aviation heritage…aside from a Spitfire.

Nip down to Stapleford and have a word with Alan Sugar.

Any ideas about this found on a local beach?

Looks like a combustion chamber? Avon? Though something seems a bit odd about it.

The question has to be, did you rescue it ?
