Anyone with a deep interest in this case needs to read and re-read the PPRUNE thread.
There are posters there who know exactly what has gone on.
MB should NOT be in the dock…
That was the impression I got. With those “In the know”, failing to understand why MB have stood up and taken the blame.
Then again, we only know what has been reported in court.
Thanks, my eyesight isn’t that good 🙂
Interesting thread. Out of interest, what controls did the auto pilots operate ?
Although i expect that changed according to the Mk. ?
I’ve just watched this documentary on YouTube.
What they didn’t mention, was the fate of the Beaufighter crew shot down.
Does anyone know ?
Out of interest, I came across a video on YouTube, which included an air to air of a Jet provost in a similar scheme.
It was to study the airflow over the airframe, without the canopy in place.
Me neither, what a fascinating story. Thanks for posting 🙂
There are videos of an RAF C-130 landing and taking off from Saunton Sands, Devon, so a Spitfire shouldn’t have a problem,
as long as there was no standing water.
No such thing as an accident these days apparently ?, there always has to be someone to take the blame.
I wonder what the outcome would have been, had this happened 30 or 40 yrs ago ?
Nice to see, as long as fuel availability isn’t a problem.
I hope that the aircraft still have a secure home at Yeovilton ?
We watched “Goodbye Christopher Robin” on HdOnline at the weekend. About A A Milne writing Winnie the Pooh.
I thought it was going to be a kids film, but it was really quite good.
As you say, so many runways were crushed to make hardcore for motorways. I still remember Hunsdon when it had a runway.
Thanks for the info Skeeler. I also expect, as with so many aircraft these days, they make use of Sat Navs ?
I think that’s the case at Stanstead.
I didn’t realized that BBMF aircraft were allowed to be flown IFR (?)
